Ignore all the naysayers. You looked fabulous and I look forward to watching you develop your own fashion identity and style while keeping up with the demands of your new role.

You are beyond delusional if you think someone whose husband was just inaugurated as Vice President of the United States is reading DCUM lmfao.

Is that why you’re so defensive of her? You want to be her friend?!

+1. DCUM is the last place she or her circle would be.

I didn't even mean it like her circle wouldn't be here, I just meant like...she's probably a little busy right now! This person is completely deranged if they actually think Usha has even five minutes to read DCUM right now.

The rabid defensiveness of this woman is strange. People say way meaner about Melania and Ivanka in the Trump women thread and no one pushes back?

Doesn't change what it is, though. You can shout down and insult posters here if you want, but people all over are still talking about it. A better use of the energy is just to get a stylist for formal appearances and do better.

All this frantic defense to make her feel better just makes her look more out of place and thin-skinned. Sad.

The only people insulting others are those who are calling her ugly and stupid, and those who are mocking anyone who dares to say she looks great (which she does). Maybe consider it is you who is grossly out of place for so vehemently criticizing someone who actually looks perfectly lovely. Don’t you have some seams of your own to obsess over?

Nobody called her stupid or ugly. They recommended she work with a stylist and a dermatologist. Both perfectly normal things to do as a person in the limelight like this. You’re taking this insanely personally. Why?

Earlier in the thread, someone (or multiple people) did indeed call her both ugly and stupid for not being styled in a way those posters deemed acceptable. Perhaps those comments have been deleted - I certainly hope so. Because she is definitely neither ugly nor stupid and seems happy and confident in all of her looks. Which she should be.

You’re welcome to make absurd criticisms of her, but please don’t think they deserve to go unchallenged. Many of us think she looked fabulous and will continue to say so.

I followed this thread from the beginning and this just didn’t happen. You’re obviously an incredibly political person and can’t participate in an objective discussion re her lack of style and general frump, so why bother?

I have been popping into this thread although I didn't read it religiously. There were nasty toned posts calling her a pain jane and saying only white people would find her attractive.

That was me and you are taking my words out of context and misunderstanding them (probably on purpose). She’s average. That’s not an insult. I’m average too and you probably are too. She’s not the great beauty that her friends on here are claiming that she is.

Melania is the beauty in the White House now but Usha is attractive to those who appreciate POC.

Melania and the other Trump women are only attractive because of all the work they have had done. She is not a natural beauty.

I was only pointing out her relative beauty compared to the other occupants of the White House. When she is smiling and wearing a flattering designer gown, none of the other Trump or Vance women can compete with her height, figure and distinctive model features. Lauren Sanchez looks like a blowup doll next to her.

My defense of her is not "rabid" and I
voted Biden/Harris. This is a beauty and fashion thread so I am trying to be an objective critic. I do think POC women are held to a higher standard and often targets.

“Usha is attractive to those who appreciate POC.” Uh, wow. Also wow on many times these comments were quoted and that was passed right over.

Yep. No excuses for looking unpolished and messy.

That’s good, considering she didn’t/doesn’t. I’d love to see a photo of you.

Oh, I'm frumpy as hell. But game recognizes game (frump recognizes frump?).

There is no way I'd go in public like this at her level of notoriety, especially if I had her money and resources.

And miss me with "They aren't Trump wealthy!" He's a venture capitalist with a bestselling book he sold for movie rights and she's a big law partner. They aren't the podunk "Aw Shucks! We're just moving to DC to help folks like you!" couple from Cincinnati that they pretend to be. They don't even live in Cincinnati because Usha, salt of the earth that she is, said Ohio public schools weren't good enough for her kids. JD wrote an op-ed about this! They lived in Alexandria
before the Vice Presidency!

Is that why have such strong views on this? You feel you have to tone down the frump and here she is wearing it out without a thought and getting praise?

Meh...I don't know because this time around Melania looks harsh and cruel, in fact Trump's personality comes across as more affable. Look at any pics, of course the hat day was a disaster but even in the church the next day, she just looked harsh and unattractive.

Melania and her husband have started to look like each other, especially around the mouth. A little in the narrow eyes...

So is she getting praise or are people being mean to her? Because you've claimed both.

I wrote that and I am a POC. I was described as "olive-skinned" and "beautiful in a different way" when I first went to college. It opened my eyes to the reality that we women of color are held to a different standard of beauty than our white counterparts. Usha is not plain or average.

Because they are celebrities and not seen as real people. Very few people generally have compassion for celebrities. Usha seems much more like an ordinary person and is therefore much more relatable and garners empathy the way the Trumps don’t.

Yeah, no, I'm an intelligent woman with a real job, not just being wife to some dude. I have to actually do things. The only things she had to do anymore sre the ones she is really bad at --- witness this thread.

She seems extraordinary among the Trumps. She acted like an adult in the church, giving her polite attention to the speaker despite her husband's interruptions.

The president himself is on social media day and night. What on earth would be keeping the VP’s wife so busy?

If I had Usha's money and resources and needed an official WH headshot, people would not even recognize me! I'd be lasered, peeled, and botoxed to beyond recognition (for me, personally, I wouldn't go full Trump), fresh highlights, professional makeup, a dress in the best possible color for me. If y'all knew me and then saw my WH headshot in this scenario you would be like "Who is that?"

THAT is the difference. If I go to my office in suburban Maryland with a few flyaways and in an ill-fitting dress, no one cares. If I am representing my husband's boss on the national stage, yes, you need to kill with your looks.
