They do, but I don’t think the Jewish or LGBTQ protestors understand that the people they are defending wouldn’t even have them over for dinner.

My kid absolutely does. But for her, that doesn’t matter. She demands, based on our faith, that all are treated according to our principles. As an example, it is harder to argue against the death penalty if you are faced with a man who has raped and murdered a young mom in front of her traumatized children. But if you do not believe the state has a right to take a citizen’s life as a punishment, then the nature of the crime doesn’t matter. It isn’t easy to live.

She sounds exactly like the sort of protester I’m picturing. UMC bubble child with no real problems.

Oh, then your kid must have been absolutely horrified by the atrocities committed on Oct. 7! Did she speak out then? No? Why not?

Because she is American and is protesting her government primarily. She actually really liked the president’s responses post 10/7. She thought he did a good job in reaching out to Jewish Americans as well as the Israelis to express support. She has no issues (she has told me) with the US funding Iron Dome. But given the poor (in her opinion) way that Israel is prosecuting this war, with absolute lack of care for civilians, she wants the US to step back and stop funds transfer to the Israel. And especially the sale of any offensive weapons.

I think what Israel lost with my daughter and many of her friends is the benefit of the doubt. I think prior to this war, she more or less thought “the ME is messed up. The poor Israelis who have to deal with all the violence.” Now she doesn’t believe that either side is capable of speaking without a heavy dose of propaganda, and she thinks that Palestinians have been poorly treated.

This is a fascinating article. Progressives won't like it but this is Nate Silver and Charles Gasparino as sources, in no way conservative icons and very bright people who know how the halls of power work.

Anonymous wrote:I really don’t understand why protesting this war is a whole ‘bother level of bad according to some. The stuff that is happening in Gaza is terrifying - and I think most people can agree with that. The only question is whether it’s justified. Having young people look at the situation in Gaza and demand an end to it surely is the least surprising thing in the world. And having some that step over the line and turn their frustration into anti Jewish rhetoric is also surely not surprising. Sure, deal with people who are endangering others. Or disrupting learning in serious ways against campus policy. But otherwise, let it be. And if some folks are offended, so be it. Look at the standards in our society. Protestors are allowed to hold pictures of fetuses outside an abortion clinic and harass patients. We are training our children to deal with unpleasant speech everywhere. I am not sure why donors have stepped in to squash speech. It’s weird to men.

None of the protestors had a look at the situation in Gaza. They are chicken to actually go there. They looked at what they was fed by the media.

The bigger goal is to disrupt american educational system. All the top schools that associated with elite education in US are falling down, and these protestors just a pawns in this game.

There are no names have been identified so far. Are you sure those people are pro-Israel protesters and not staged actors?

If she were to look at Israel and Palestinian conflicts of the previous recent years, she would have more nuance. But she wasn't been paying attention then. So for her, it didn't happen. And so she disapproves of Israel.

You could give her a bit of guidance and show her the many times that Palestinians sent rockets into Israel - and she could imagine how that would make her feel and react.

Nah some people have moral clarity and integrity at 8, 18 or 88, while others will stoop to any level of depravity to protect their own wealth and power.

Did those rockets kill 35000 women and children??? Asking, just for nuance and context.

The United Nations warns it could take 14 years to clean up the rubble that was once Gaza. 14 years. Mind, that number is conservative if you take into consideration the fact that Israel won’t allow the necessary heavy equipment in to do it. According to US defense secretary, over 25,000 women and children have been killed in Gaza. Gaza is gone. A genocide has happened and there are people out there who refuse to see it. In what world do people exist where this is ok? And where people who protest against this are called spoiled brats and terrorists supporters. Really?

Can you imagine how you would feel and react being subject to frequent bombings for years and years? Would you react vigorously? Or temperately?

Integrity sure. But wisdom? No. That comes only with age and experience.

There are 2 million people in Gaza. You can protest the conflict there, but don't be inaccurate.

Well that’s what happens when you allow yourself to be governed and ruled by terrorists.
