Thread about UC Santa Cruz college students placing demands on administrators

Curious as to why this thread was deleted. Or, was it moved?

I finally got around to looking into the thread and discovered that it was essentially fake news. The thread's subject line and the point of the original post is that the student protesters added demands after their initial demands were met. That is simply not true. As you can see from the students' statement here:

http://afrikanblackcoalition.org/2017/05/02/black-students-at-uc-santa-cruz-protest-hostile-campus/

The students state four demands toward the beginning of their statement, but then go on to mention three demands that were previously made. Essentially, the Administration met the students' new demands but failed to address the older demands.

Given that the entire thread had preceded on the basis of the false understanding, and then branched off to include even less relevant topics such as Louis Farrakhan, it didn't seem appropriate to keep the thread in place.

BTW, that thread is a good indication of why liberal white allies are often not trusted by black activists. The first page of the thread was post after post by self-described white liberals completely accepting the false account and criticizing the black students. These posters should not be so quick to accept negative portrayals of African Americans.

I wonder if the "self-described white liberals" are really just that? I've heard the type of negativity in that thread spewed by conservatives equally and more so in the political forum, on my job, at the bus stop, Trump supporters, etc. Many times people will identify as one group and go on under the guise to vilify that group.
