School for Friends 3-year-old Opeining for September

School for Friends (www.schoolforfriends.org) has an opening for a 3-year-old (born September 2014 through February 2015) beginning with the new school year in September. School for Friends is a small, play-based preschool in Dupont Circle, that provides a warm, caring, and supportive educational program for children ages 18 months to 5 years old. If you are interested in the 3-year-old opening, contact the director, Jim Clay, at jimclay@schoolforfriends.org or 202-328-1789.

Both our kids have had fantastic experiences at the school, and we recommend it without reservation. We watched our older child flourish there, and found her very well-prepared for kindergarten. Our younger is in his second year and loves it! In addition to it being a great place for our kids, we've really found a wonderful community of parents there as well.

Founded in 1981, the school has been providing a rich, play-based curriculum for more than three decades. The teachers are engaged, attentive, loving and committed to the children; teacher turnover is low. The Director is deeply committed to the school’s mission, stays on top of everything, and is very responsive. Families come from all different neighborhoods and backgrounds, which helps create a welcoming and supportive community. The school is deeply committed to diversity in several forms—family structure, economic status, race and ethnicity—and this commitment shows. The curriculum also reflects the Quaker values of cooperation, equality and nonviolence. School for Friends is accredited by NAEYC and is a member of Friends Council on Education. Financial aid is available for those who may need it.

Dates wrong I'm assuming? Or age? It's hard for small schools to compete with quality DCPS ECE in that areas.
