I want to brush up my Spanish and learn Tagalog. I can sing a whole song in Spanish and I don't know half of what I'm saying! Any recs for podcast or book for intermediate level Spanish and basic Tagalog? I would love to get Rosetta, but it's way too much for me.

I downloaded Pimsleur from ITunes for Arabic. It's boring as hell, but it's working. And cheaper than Rosetta Stone, which I hear is really good. ITunes has Tagalog, and you can buy the first 5 lessons or so for about $25 and see if you like it before buying more.

I agree with a PP though, try Craigslist.

I did download a few podcasts, but agree, it was so boring. It moved too slow for me. Looking for something faster. Or perhaps some kind of workbook would be better...writing it out helps it stick in my brain better. But I will check out CL for Rosetta too!

You might check out the podcast Notes in Spanish. It comes at three different levels and it's basically a conversation between a husband and wife (in Spain -- so it's not Latin American Spanish but it's not that different) about various topics. They also have a website that supplements the podcasts.

Or just do a search at iTunes on educational podcasts. There are lots of them out there.

Also, if you are comfortable chatting over the internet via Skype (and if not, it's easy to pick up), I highly recommend tutoring online. I work with a tutor in Nicaragua and it's really inexpensive. If interested, contact Jessica Lanuza Rojas at this site:
