Anyone know what happened? We used to get most of our wine there, but there was a sign there last time I went stating that it was "closed indefinitely" as of Feb. 19th.
Super sad. That was the main place we went to get wine if we were shopping at Whole Foods. Kept meaning to try the food since the menu looked good, but won't have a chance to now. ![]() |
Yes, it's closed indefinitely. They haven't said much else about it. Not sure if anyone here knows owner Walter Rhee, but he's a great guy, and all he's said so far is that it was due to unforeseen circumstances. If you really do enjoy a place like Adega, and you want to support it, instead of saying you keep meaning to try the food, make sure you actually take the time to do it. That support could mean all the difference in helping keep a small business open. |
I live in DTSS and there is much talk of this on our listserv, including stories that this owner was overleveraged with three other restaurants. Underuse of Adega was not the point -- the owner blew it. |
We were also sad. I used to go there for food with our kids a couple times a year and we often bought wine when we were at WF. They could definitley use another wine/beer store in that area. |
What other restaurants does he own? |
So sad! I used to love their wine selection! I never ate there because it would often make me sick--like throwing up sick. My husband was always fine though. |
Fenwick beer and wine is an awesome place to go for wine. The owner has done recommendations for large events and has always delivered hits. http://dudamobile.fenwickbeerandwine.com/#2771 - |
I loved their fig and arugula flatbread a few years ago when I lived there, but they changed the recipe a while back ![]() |
Yes Fenwick is great. And they do beer/wine tastings on Friday afternoons. |
