Do you miss the days when it "meant something" to play travel? (In other words, you could claim something your neighbor couldn't?)
Do you change clubs because one has more status than another? Are you sick of the people in the main travel soccer thread talking about productive things and adhering to the mantra of "development over winning"? Then this is the thread for you! Tell us how much the other clubs in the area suck. You may have seen 10 of the players trying out for that other club -- that's surely enough to tell us how bad they are. Or maybe your DC's team beat their D team in a tournament, and you're now the expert on everything the other club is doing wrong. You won't be expected to know what's going on in soccer in general. Come on in and tell us that women's pro players are just people who don't have anything better to do. You've never read anything about soccer outside of this forum, but you really know what's going on. Enjoy! |
FCV is full of nasty people and nasty parents. Is that a good start to this board? |
^^When you're replying to the original post in a thread, there is absolutely no reason to quote that post. Thanks for your cooperation. |
You are a poopie head. |
PP here -- this is exactly what I expected. |
But was it everything you hoped for? |
OP you are the exact reason why travel soccer is the way it is. you suck, your kid is a roster filler on the 3rd team |
I enjoy it when the people on the main travel soccer thread talk about productive things, and I thought there were some really excellent discussions right before the girls DA v. ECNL anxiety/hostility took over the thread. But I find discussions about "development over winning" excruciatingly boring and unhelpful (however well intentioned). Where should I post? |
Well, in all fairness, a new league does not kick off every year so the DA vs ECNL and the tryout discussions were to be expected. Expect the tryout season to bring some similar seasonal discussions as well. With Spirit being the last to fill out their rosters there will still be some lingering discussion but that will die down in time. Last year at this time it was all "Birth Year" change. Perhaps next year will just be a normal year after two to three crazy years in a row. |
I agree with you, and I don't blame the girls' parents for being anxious. It's just kinda boring for those of us who don't have girl soccer players. I thought the birth year change discussions were productive overall, and I also appreciate the recent posts on soccer in Nor-and SoCal, and the one that laid out the sanctioning entities for all the various leagues. |
Don't take this the wrong way but you should be glad that you're "bored" by the girls side discussions. |
Ha! Our club doesn't have a third team. And all clubs that have third, fourth, fifth and sixth teams are just taking parents' money, because the only worthwhile experience in sports is to be in the Elite Elite League, where you can get preferential admissions to a D3 school in the middle of nowhere. |
Not blaming anyone who wants to talk about it. I've been through it on the boys side and would have loved a resource like this at the time. But I will still be glad when we return to topics of general applicability (or at least topics that I find interesting). |
