Heartbreak

How do you deal with heartbreak? Booze, sex, therapy, exercise, repression?

Getting close to Christ .

A lot of sleep, initially. Followed by ice cream and pizza. Followed by a trip w/ a girlfriend to somewhere warm w/ my fav foods - usually involving a cruise. Then I come home and work my ass off in the gym to get it right, get it tight. And then I move on. Throughout all of that, I shop like crazy, and add to my already insane shoe collection.

Anti-depressants worked for me.

Numbed all of my emotional pain pronto.

I start plotting how to find my next love. Relationships aren't meant to last - some do and that's great - but if you go into it, thinking you will enjoy it while it lasts, the heartbreak is easier to deal with.

Exercise, get outside, time with friends and family. And wine.

Get drunk and get laid. Maybe not the same night, but definitely both

Cry it out. Music and movies help. Cry until you can cry no more. Then rebuild a new foundation.

All good ideas but generally not useful except for exercise. The worst thing to do is sit around and mope. You need to stay very busy so you don't have time to think about it. Every minute you don't think about it is part of the healing.

How to deal with it: get up in the morning, take a shower, put on foot in front of the other, go to work, take care of business. At least go through the motions of life and let time do its job. Real heartbreak you are never truly over as long as you can remember the person.
