Montgomery County Summer Fun Centers

Has anyone used these camps? I'm thinking of signing up because I would need childcare a few days some weeks, but not full weeks. The price is really reasonable, about $400 for the summer, but the price also makes me nervous about the supervision. Are they too good to be true? I'm a single parent trying to get the summer figured out, but my funds are limited.

I heard about these last summer so I asked around and got the word that depending on the location, they are great. The east county rec center location should be avoided. We signed our DD up, and her best friend is joining her.

bump, anyone try the one at Clara Barton? I can't believe they're so cheap!

We've signed up DS for the last few years. It is decent. It seems reasonably well run. Its pretty basic, its not an AMAZING camp experience, but it seems like safe and reliable basic day camp. The do arts and crafts, they play outside, they go swimming a few times a month.

My son does not love it, he thinks it is boring -- but he would like to sit at home and play Xbox instead. But when my goal is child care and keep hm busy in appropriate activities, it works.

It's by county recreation so they can keep their costs low
Teenagers can attend a training day and volunteer as junior counselors and get ssl hours
The only drawback is that you have to pick your kid up at 6 pm
Not extravagant activities, but enough to get by

Glorified group babysitting.
