| Anyone ever gotten one of these? My dad immigrated here from Slovenia in the 50s and I just got a message from a guy with my last name (rare both in the US and in Slovenia) wondering if we are related. |
|
I am registered on a Jewish genealogy site and have received messages like this. Sadly, no relation could be established, but I would be delighted to talk to people with the same last name as my husband's (also very rare) and mine (not as rare).
As long as the writer is not insisting on visiting you at home or asking for $$, I don't see anything bad in these messages. |
He probably wants to see if Malaria has invited you to the WH yet. He doesn't want to miss out. |
| Malaria? |
You know exactly who I'm talking about. She who shall not be named. And if you don't - Slovenia. Malaria. Put it together. |

I am French with roots from Luxembourg and my name is also quite rare.
I did some research and found some distant relatives in the US and I wrote them, we exchanged a few messages and it was really nice. Nothing came out of it but the lady once told me to stop by if I ever came to her area someday

Same thing and same experience. I don't find anything sinister about this. I've never found a family connection but I've exchanged emails explaining what villages my family is from, etc. Why would you consider this a "long lost relative"? He's simply asking if you might be related because you have the same rare last name. The index of suspicion and drama is way too high. |
You need to up your meds or move to the political board, sicko. |
| I am related to anyone with my maiden name. We can trace it back to our roots, about 150 years ago, so on the rare (very rare) occasion someone shows up on Facebook or google with our last name, it's fun to figure out how we are connected. |
Not every mention of her name (or his) belongs in politics. Stop sounding so unhinged, sicko. |
| I have connected with many 'relatives' on Facebook but these are my relations via my husband (who is not on FB) only. It is a very unusual last name and, because one of his cousins did a bunch of geneology I know they definitely same family! Sadly - while it is fun to reach out - way way too many of them are just not my kind of people so there will not be any reunions planned |
#1 That sicko has been on a few boards. Still crying over the election, taken over his pitiful life. |
