Brass rubbings at National Cathedral?

Anonymous
When I was younger, I remember going in 3rd grade on a field trip to the National Cathedral to do brass rubbings.

Can you still do brass rubbings there? I have not heard anyone mention this in a long time and can find no info on it.

I would like to take my 9yo and 4 yo there to do it.

Could you call them and ask or check online?

They no longer do brass rubbings. You can go yourself and do a rubbing of anything you see that you may be interested in, but it's not the bona fide, BRASS rubbing on black paper, blah blah blah.

Disappointing.

Aww, that's too bad. I still have the one my 30-year-old son did, years ago.

I still have mine I did in 1975- the skeleton of Ralph! Framed it nicely and it hangs in my office to this day!

The process of rubbing damages the monument over time. Many places don’t allow it anymore.
