Only about 1/3 maybe get into their early schools so most of what you see is not legacy. Plenty of fancy families but plenty of regular families

Other kid went to a different TT with great results as well but not quite the same.

Honestly, I can’t explain why colleges love Brearley so much. But I can say that these results are not reducible to hooks, which are common at all these schools. It plays a role, but the unhooked are doing fine as well.

i can't really explain it either with respect to Spence. The results are out of this world. I understand some of it is $$. But the broad based number of excellent schools across almost the entire student body says that it has to be something.

So far, Spence has 60 kids posted on Instagram which is probably their 99% or entire of the total senior population. the IVY+ Stanford+ MIT rate is 47%.. this is insane as i would think Spence is not as academically intense as Brearley or HM...
well it appears that the last 1% posted on IG today. 61 girls. surprised at the Berkeley number and no Duke/Stanford/JHU is a bit surprising. There honestly isn't a bad school in this list.

7: Penn
6: Chicago, Cornell
5: Harvard
4: Princeton, Michigan
3: Berkeley
2: Brown, Columbia, Williams, WashU
1: Yale, Dartmouth, Northwestern, MIT, Vanderbilt, Emory, Rice, Tufts, Wellesley, Swarthmore, Barnard, Colgate, Wake Forest, Vassar, Northeastern, Chapman, Kenyon, Wesleyan

I would take Baruch College (finance) or Stony Brook (CS) over many of the schools listed if you are looking to stay in NY Metro area.

my understanding is that those are more of the commuter feeling schools.

i would assume if the girls wanted to stay in the NY Metro area they would do NYU or Columbia voer Baruch or SB. but that's just my guess.

Baruch is going to have a MUCH harder time getting a good job in finance versus most of the schools on the list.

Columbia and NYU are commuter schools too. Depends on if you are focus on trying to hit a homerun over a single. Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking roles pay well (200K - 400k) and decent work/life balance. You can also save the difference for an Ivy+ grad degree.

Adam Neumann (WeWork) and Martin Shkreli (Hedge Fund) are recent graduates of the school.

Oh, criminals. How inspiring.

I don’t get the morality, you make it sounds like many of the families who attend private didn’t make their money through illegal or unethical ways. The Jamie Johnson documentary covers the topic.

Anyone see the HM decisions video on IG? I counted 23 to Chicago and a similar number to Cornell.

Is it from this year or 2025?

Those videos are awful - I hate this trend. Not picking on HM. All of them are dumb.

I feel it is setting up people for disappointment when it turns out they are just average. Everyone thinks they will be the exception.

So, over quarter of the class to Chicago/Cornell? Good for them!

It’s weird and immature, and it means admin is never held accountable for anything other than getting rich kids into HYP, which isn’t a metric of anything other than getting rich kids into HYP. How do they once there, do they do well once they graduate? No one knows, because you aren’t allowed to ask. I didn’t quite believe there adults who believed in HYP the way kids believe in Santa Claus, but then my kid went to a TT. There are.

Feels like the majority of people are happy with the outcomes for TT and the demand for the product is still there.

If the bullying and poor outcomes were more consistently an issue - people would not be applying.

your daughter and a couple of others had a terrible experience due to one rich girl at one TT school. It sucks but it sure seems to be an outlier.

Think Dalton, Spence and Brearley parents are happy this year. HM and Trinity parents less so.

Why HM and Trinity parents less happy?

It is on par with some of the other schools mentioned. Many very successful families choose these schools for a variety of reasons. And top kids at these schools do just as well as kids at TT schools. And often have a happier four years of HS doing so.

Not that I primarily focus on HS.

The top 10% of Trevor is not doing just as well as HM or Dalton.

are the trevor kids less intelligent, driven, motivated? or is it the teaching? or is it all about the parents $$, hooks etc?

Most the intelligence and drive. There is more money at HM and the like but there’s enough at Trevor. The Trevor students just aren’t up to snuff even with large gifts to universities.

Wondering this as well. What happens if an intelligent, driven, motivated kid attends Trevor? Do they not end up in the same place as if they went to HM?

They’ll have a marginally worse outcome. Iron sharpens iron. Being around unintelligent peers weighs down your growth.

Please don't encourage them. Somehow Trevor made them angry so they have this horrible hatred towards the school. Trevor has its pros and cons. They go overboard on the cons. Top kids there do very well. Overall outcomes don't compare to TT, but a top kid has a very good chance at an Ivy. And will have four less stressful years of HS. One can better argue about the benefits of the lower school program but it is still not as bad as this person makes it out to be.
