I get it, McDonalds food is not healthy but how do you explain the 80+ year olds who eat there?

1) McDonald's coffee is far from terrible.

2) at 80, its usually a problem of getting enough calories or not. Not enough time left to worry about chronic dietary problems.

They get senior priced coffee $.50 and they see their friends. The coffee is good.

The McDonald’s I worked at almost 30 years ago had a senior center nearby. Elderly people came in every day, but they weren’t ordering Double Quarter pounder meals with an extra large coke. For breakfast they would order a coffee and an English muffin. For lunch they’d order coffee and a side salad. If they came in for dinner it was something small - a hamburger/cheeseburger and a small fry.

Also, McD's has (or used to have) cheap coffee for seniors. If they are there having a cup of coffee and a McMuffin, it's not that unhealthy, it's pretty cheap, and the boost they get from getting out of the house and socializing probably makes up for any unhealthy food anyways.

I enjoy a meal there once in while, but today I had a fish sandwich, why did the piece of fish get so small? I will never eat one again and I so enjoyed them before you made them so small. Why Why? Think you should make them bigger again. OK!

Breakfast is breakfast — eggs and bacon, pancakes, whatever else they are eating. It’s no different from eating at home in some regards.

Grandmother 4 feet ten on a good day. Died at age 104 over weight like 80 pounds at least ate McDonald, Burger King, and Pizza weekly no high cholesterol no diabetes nothing.

Her three sons all died of pancreatic cancer.
Her husband died at 66 of stomach cancer.

Yeah odd but true.

The day my grandfather got told at Dana Farber that he had cancer, it was so advanced there was no saving him and he should go spend time with his family, we left and immediately went to Friendly's where he ordered a big ice cream sundae for lunch.

So yeah, I get why 80 yr olds on a fixed income are eating at a fast food place.

My mother in law ate poorly her whole life and just died at 90. My Dad who was very careful about his food and a big exerciser died at 80. Its random.

This. They usually don't eat much and are there mostly to socialize. When my mom and dad got into their 80s, they started getting fast food more so they didn't have to cook, and sometimes would split a meal and each have coffee. They never did this until they were in their 80s, so it wasn't cumulative.

Warren Buffet eats his breakfast everyday there.
The answer might be most of those people started eating there everyday after they got old after retirement.

Better to eat a mcmuffin than loot the local cvs.

Why did you resurrect a 2021 thread about seniors eating there to complain about the Filet-o-fish shrinking?

At least man up and make a new thread!
