Pp here and I agree, which is why I don’t think it makes sense for teacher to respond and I was clarifying. When people complain about cushy teacher schedules, teachers are very quick to remind everyone they are not paid for their time off. |
| 5.5 weeks at a media company, been there 10 years. Between the 10yr bump up and using a lot less than usual during the pandemic this was the first time I had any vacation time to roll over. |

University administrator here:
24 days of annual leave 12 days of sick leave 13 paid holidays We can roll over up to 8 weeks of leave a year. Anything beyond that converts to sick leave. The leave definitely helps make up for the less than stellar salary. |

| One of the PPs with 25+ days of leave per year. I have taken off 2 weeks in one chunk, but never more than that (well, except for parental leave). I know that my team will have to pick up my tasks, and with my relatively heavy workload, that would not be fair to them, so I try to cap taking time off at two weeks. Now if my useless boss would agree to fill in for me (he certainly has the bandwidth), I would have no qualms being out for longer, but even if he says he will, all he does is "delegate" it to the rest of my team, which defeats the whole purpose of filling in. Oh well. |

Yes, this is the only thing that makes me wistful for my yearly contract position as academic staff. The leave was glorious, if nothing else. |

At my company you start with 19 days of PTO (which is one day short of four weeks). After two years it goes up to 21 days. Anything you don't use carries over.
Sadly can't take more than a week off though (due to work load only, not management). |
My old supervisor who retired last year would take 3-4 week vacations traveling around the world. She was close friends with another colleague in the office and occasionally they would travel together on these extended trips. The supervisor who replaced her also goes on long trips. I’m now the first line supervisor under her, and I fully intend to take long vacations myself. As soon as my toddler is old enough for us to bear going on a long vacation with her. It’s office culture at this point, and I intend to maintain it. |
| I work at an NGO ad have five weeks plus 13 paid holidays. Jokes on me I work 80% of holidays and usually don’t manage to take more than 7 days of leave. |

NP in same situation- yes. Contract is for 10 months so I am free to seek other employment or take off 2 months out of the year. Everything else is paid. |
