How can kids go 5 days in the fall when school can’t allow 4 days a week now?

I have been chill this year because this is a new and fluid situation. I will lose my shit next year if they do concurrent. There is no reason for it. Use Virtual Virginia or home school. Adults and teenagers will be vaccinated. There is no reason to not send kids to school.

I did some part time virtual teaching this year. I wAnt to be back in the classroom next year. But this is giving me pause. I’m a little nervous to apply for jobs and then find concurrent to be happening. Wondering if other people feel the same.

Brabrand needs to come out and say FOR SURE that there will be no concurrent. That was a temporary solution many schools used but not sustainable for regular education.

Ask him. He said that there WILL be very limited concurrent last return to school work session.

They need to hear from people like you saying that is not ok, not just us #openFCPS again.

What have they been doing all year? I'm from Upstate New York and school districts were buying plexiglass last summer and kids are in school five days a week now.

CDC said ditch the plexiglass because it impedes airflow and potentially makes the situation worse. I hope they aren't buying plexiglass.

No kidding. Everything we are doing is a year behind. Next year schools will normal and many states without masks and we will still have floor stickers and signs and plexiglass.

So move to those states. We like science here.

What about the states where the science is invented? Like Massachusetts? Do they like science too? Coz many of their school districts are going back 5 days this year.

Exactly. Plexiglass is just safety theater. I don’t even know if any teachers who use theirs. It is bulky and doesn’t do anything.

My kid sits at a table with another kid, but facing the same direction, with Plexiglass between them. It does nothing because they not sit behind it and face each other with no plexiglass between them. Why FCPS wasted $$ on all the plexiglass is one of many mysteries.

The only people who follow the science in fcps are the coaches.

They need to fire all of Gatehouse and put the coaches in charge.

Is that why our HS football team was shut down due to an 11 case outbreak?

My plexiglass sits on a table unused. I haven't seen anybody using it.

I’m not pp, I teach 5th and I’ve already told my principal I’m quitting if they make us teach concurrently next year. I’ve been teaching for 15 years and this set up is totally inappropriate and not effective for virtual or in person students.

A teacher friend of mine in Fairfax said Brabrand said it will be concurrent. The hope apparently is if the choice for virtual is concurrent fewer families will pick it. My friend is freaking out because they don’t know if they can do concurrent again. Hoping the board overrides if that’s indeed the plan. It is not ok to do concurrent for another year. Teachers nor parents think so.
