Lippe was basically the start of this season. His character came full circle. Really nice arch. |
I meant "star" |
Yes, and ever since that heartbreak he caused, he is becoming more and more likable. It think he is the warmest male character of the show at this point. |
While some women chose merely to cover their hair with a cloth or sheitel, or wig, the most zealous shave their heads beneath to ensure that their hair is never seen by others. “There is a certain energy to the hair, and after you get married it can hurt you instead of benefiting you,” said Ms. Hazan, now 49. a-glimpse-inside-the-hidden-world-of-Hasidic-women https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/19/nyregion/a-glimpse-inside-the-hidden-world-of-hasidic-women.html |
I am going to re-watch everything, starting from season 1 ep. 1.. I Been long enough, I forgot a lot and it will be nice to reconnect. See you ... ![]() |
Completely agree!! |
I’m doing the exact same and catching a lot I missed before! I love this show. |
Does anyone remember how Libby’s mom died? |
I know right? There is something unspecific in this.. the atmosphere .. the slow life and day to day existence that is in a way like a catharsis for a fast paced souls like us living on a hamster wheel. I often don't have a patience or need to watch the intros of average episode of an average series but here, I just let it play and enjoy that healing power of this time slowing down feeling.. It is really refreshing. I think that there is some almost therapeutic power of this show. They are not trying hard to please the viewer, they act like viewer does not exist, they don't pretend, they don't force any beauty of places, appearances, they don't colorize people or events. It is a veristic portraying of a family and some events that are served as they come. The second watch let you reflect, and just enjoy being with them even for few minutes at the time.. somehow it is really like a Shtisel therapy.. in the most unexpected way. |
“ At this moment, for the first time in the series, a character looks directly into the camera as if she knows that she is being captured on film. In doing so, she becomes exactly like one of Akiva Shtisel’s soulful portraits. As she looks intimately into the eyes of the viewer, inviting us to join her in this vulnerable, human moment, we realize that the entire series of “Shtisel” has managed the ultimate artistic feat of pinning butterflies under glass. It has captured life, real and vivid, poignant and complex, full of aching joy and sadness.”

Very much so. Part of it for me is that I have to read the subtitles so I can’t multitask like I usually do when watching TV. I have to sit and watch and so am fully engaged with the story. Such a balm. |
Yes, you are right@ That full undivided attention that the subtitles require, add to full experience and deeper emotional connection. |
I was a little upset at the writer to chose the funny Akiva's friend (the one with glasses) to make a mishap with the baby. He was the funniest of non family characters and I think that after the baby mishap they will write him off and it is sad because he really was funny,
and also the whole thing was really insane, however it is possible that this could have been used in real life as the reason to take the baby away it is still insane. The guy had fully good intentions, as much his fault as Shtisel's, the baby should have been checked out and verified the parental connection so this is insane. I really hope they bring him back and not write him off in the next season. It looks like they cut a LOT Of characters and also took away some episodes as the other seasons had more then 8. I miss that they don't make any kind of reference to what happened to those people that we got to meet and attached.. like Elisheva, what happened to her when she immigrated with her son. We want to know if she is okay! How is the Rembrant guy doing? Did he set his life? How about just let us know he is fine? And what about that forgotten daughter? We spend good amount of time to travel to meet her and now what?.. There is a need to give us some closure on those people. Even if it is just a brief cameo. I really hope they will make another season happen. If it is a matter of money, there is a tone of people who would happily help to fund Jerusalem Film project that is making the series. This series does amazing thing for the Jewish communities around the world. Keep it going! please... whoever is in charge. |
Why Shtisel has captured the global imagination
The Israeli TV show about an ultra-Orthodox Jewish family may not seem like the usual TV phenomenon, but the unexpected combination is a hit, writes Jennifer Keishin Armstrong. https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20190411-why-shtisel-has-captured-the-global-imagination |
This is what we know about Shtisel's future for now:
Is Shtisel Coming Back For Season 4? At this stage, there is yet to be an announcement confirming whether or not Shtisel will return for a fourth season, however its global success makes it seem like a safe bet. And while the series' fate may still be in the air, Deadline has reported that an American adaptation of the show is on its way. Per the report, the show will be based on the Israeli series and is described as being: "a modern-day Romeo and Juliet story about an an ultra-progressive, over-achieving secular eighteen-year-old young woman on the verge of personal freedom, and the strictly observant Orthodox young man to whom she is powerfully drawn—so powerfully that she is willing to uproot her entire life to be with him." https://www.marieclaire.com.au/shtisel-netlix |
