I walked past a restaurant in my neighborhood last night

The New Zealand/ Australia comparison is tiring. Apples and oranges.

Because they don’t know if the vaccine does anything to curb transmission. You could get the vaccine, get COVID, and not get sick, but you may still infect others. It’ll be a long slow vaccine rollout, so we’ll still need to take precautions to avoid infecting others for a while.

People can’t take precautions now and they definitely won’t once masses start getting vaccinated. Sucks for people who can’t get the vaccine for various reasons but that’s reality.

Isn't is summer in Australia? The virus is seasonal. Summer was great here but we had to keep the narrative going because we had an election that had to keep the fear porn going.

So what's keeping the "fear porn" going now?
The election is over.

Maybe it's actual fear, and the hospitals are filling up.

On the other hand, I figure if more you her people party and get this quickly, there will be more herd immunity for the rest of us.

I hope your creepily peering through a window and watching them didn't spoil their fun night. They probably wondered who the weird peeping tom lady was

Arlington (especially North Arlington) has been pretty notoriously bad about this.

Yes - competent leadership vs. a joke for a president.

I'm just over it: if you want to get Covid, go for it. In about 20-30 years we'll find out what the long term side effects are. For one of my grandparents, the side effect of the spanish flu was viral parkinsons.

Thanks for being a lab rat and helping short term herd immunity, and have fun at your holiday party!

You didn't answer my question. Is it summer in Australia or winter? What was our case load like this summer in the US? If I'm not mistaken the media struggled to keep the narrative alive. But keep on keeping on. Just please dont come post on this board in April and say Joe Biden's "100 day mask mandate" solved the issue because we all know it didnt. The virus will die out.

I’ve actually thought a fair amount about this. This is OP. I am very judgmental about COVID. I will own that. I think it’s justified judgment. I judge you and I don’t mind judging you. But I don’t want my child to feel how angry I am because I don’t think that’s healthy for her. I actually think her response shows that she’s not feeling judgmental or anxious. She thinks those people don’t know about the germ. We ate inside restaurants and didn’t wear masks too when we didn’t know. But now we know, so we get take out and wear masks. Her response is judgment and anxiety free, which is lovely in the way that 3 year olds are. But I will judge you!

This is OP. To be clear, I am judging people who don’t take precautions, not people who catch covid despite taking precautions.

NP here. I have serious question. Why do you judge these diners about COVID and not the food that they ate? The food was likely over salted, too fatty and empty in calories which presents a bigger risk to their health than COVID does. Heart disease is the number 1 killer in America.

Is walking a high risk activity now?

Unfortunately yes because the risky people are walking around Willy nilly.

Outside is magic, you can't catch it outside.

You're the one walking away feeling bitter. They are enjoying themselves and could not care less about your judgment.

I think that’s what drives people like PP crazy. They’re so angry and judgmental, but they have no power. No one cares about their opinion. All they can do is come onto a site like this and cluck their tongues.

As a wise man once said: “You want it to be one way. But it’s the other way.”
