With LinkedIn, a lot less executive recruiters than there used to be.

Of course men's hand maidens make much less than the men who delegate their "dirty work" to them. (I know dentists CAN be men...but have you EVER met a male DH?)

Yes, at my former dentist's office there were two. They were great. At my current dentist's office there is one. He is not my dental hygienist but I overhear him talking to his patients and he sounds very good, also! He also is a body builder so he says the work hours are good for his competition schedule.

You don’t make money in exec search if you don’t place people but there is no job, easy or not, that will pay well if you are not good at it.

It's hard to break into that.

My dh is a PhD and moved from private industry to the federal govt a few years ago. He insists that is the best place for employment. Low stress. Diverse types of jobs available. You won't make a fortune, but on average, pays not much worse than the private sector.

It depends on who you are. For good sales people who are in industries and at companies where they are well supported in terms of sales collateral, sales is "easy" in the sense that the relationship management and people interaction comes easily to them. The type of person who is naturally good at sales is a rare breed, but I think it feels fun and somewhat "easy" to those who are that personality. It's easy in the sense that it doesn't require a lot of formal specific education or deeply intellectual work...but you still have to think and be strategic about your target.

This also isn't universal for sales. The best sales person at my company told me he spends almost 1 day/week learning about topics in our sector or researching companies etc. That doesn't sound "easy" to me...but other companies I've worked at provide a lot of the stuff he figures out on his own.
