Raids in northern virginia?

They pay sales tax? Is that supposed to be a joke? They are here illegally, using services, soaking up resources that should be going to support American Citizens who need help! It's too bad that under Obama Illegals got complacent and grew accustomed to being treated like celebrities. It must suck to have to go back to being treated like the criminals they are. Deport them all. Immediately.

That's the problem - there's practically no legal way for them to immigrate into the country.
There is huge US demand for cheap central American labor yet they can't get the visas.
The problem is so bad that they spend thousands of dollars and put their lives at risk to be smuggled into the country.

Our visa program is broken.

Many of them use assumed social security numbers, et cetera - and as with any payroll, taxes on their wages are withheld and sent to state and federal treasury, SS et cetera, but at the same time, they are INELIGIBLE to receive a lot of benefits that regular Americans get. They do in fact pay quite a bit in, rather than soaking everything up.

You're ignorant. There is no reason to go door to door and "randomly" stopping Latinos to ask for papers. There's no reason to deport people who have been living peacefully in our country since they were children. That does not help our safety.

Try reading the article before setting up your very own strawman.

I read the article and there is nothing wrong with PPs statement. they are literally going door to door, going to schools, holding random checkpoints in unmarked cars asking for documents. They are not just targeting people who have been charged with a crime, as the administration has claimed. They have deported some people immediately, according to the article, and have detained others. Someone please tell me how this makes America more safe. I'd argue it actually has the opposite effect, as it freaks out the entire immigrant community, members of which will no longer report crimes to the police.

They can clear elden st in Herndon and Herndon will be safer

Also local teenagers will start getting jobs

They should throw the people in jail that hire these people of he streets for day labor

Then you know that during the last months of the Obama administration, the Social Security Adiministration EXPANDED the definition of "mental health" to include, among others, those on social security disability insurance (not just "mental") and those who have their financial affairs handled by a third party, right? And you know that under the Trump administration, it was this recent EXPANSION of regulatory power that was undone? You know that, right? If you don't. you might want to read a little deeper into the issue before offering your advocacy of limiting the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens.

If you really care, open your doors and offer a safe space. That's what my European relatives did during the War. They hid Jewish children in their homes, and paid with their lives.

How much do you really care, PP?

Agreed. Like your relatives, we cannot just stand by while the Nazis do their thing.

Obama deported more people than any other president thus far. It's sad that you're so blinded by your racism and bitterness that somehow translates into him treating them like celebrities. WTF is wrong with you?

Because your kids are going to pick produce, butcher meat and clean hotel rooms and rich people's homes? Alabama tried this. Crops rotted. Landlords went bankrupt. Guest worker program with path to citizenship for those who work is the only way. Terrorizing these folks will just create chaos.

When TSA mandated that every screener be a U.S. citizen, there were predictions that "Americans wouldn't do those jobs."

The predictions were wrong of course. And you've cited a single example without describing any details. Not convincing at all.

Well, we've befriended many over the years and DH mentored one who is now working as a naval sub officer - one of the toughest military programs to get into - so yeah, we are proud of our "illegal" immigrant friends and our lives have been enriched. Have you ever invited them to your home? If so, I'm sorry you have had a hard time, unlike us.

We have family members who came in and overstayed their visas, have worked in white collar jobs for years (sometimes decades), earned money, paid college/grad school tuition, spent $$$$$ in our economy and paid taxes the entire time that they will not get back because when they finally become legal (ours through work sponsorship), they start anew paying taxes under their name and new social. They are full contributing members of the US regardless of their status. Our kids' classmates parents work 2-3 jobs, most have their own businesses and bust their @$$es off.

Immigration reform is fine but there are millions of kids who were born here to immigrant parents whose families are/will be torn apart if this continues. I live along rte 1 in Alexandria where the raids took place and the fear on the faces of, in particular Muslim women wearing scarves but now Hispanics too, is palpable and many of them are here legally and they are terrified. This type of treatment will breed homegrown terrorists among young men who already struggle here. We already have plenty of white male terrorists - let's not get started on another type.

That undocumented immigrants with no criminal records were arrested and could potentially be deported sent a shock through immigrant communities nationwide amid concerns that the U.S. government could start going after law-abiding people.

First they came for the Muslims. Now they're coming for the Latinos.

ICE Fights Back Against Fake News on Criminal Alien Arrests

“Reports of ICE checkpoints and sweeps are false, dangerous and irresponsible,” ICE officials wrote in a statement. “These reports create mass panic and put communities and law enforcement personnel in unnecessary danger. Any groups falsely reporting such activities are doing a disservice to those they claim to support.”

Media outlets have been reporting statements by community activists that appear to be aimed at instilling fear and false information about the ICE’s Operation Crosscheck, a program targeting criminal aliens and those with immigration court removal orders.

“Our community has seen an increase of ICE activity where we have heard ICE agents are going to people’s homes and detaining people,” Cristina Jimenez, executive director of United We Dream, said, according to NBCNews.

While not speaking directly to the on-going operation, ICE officials stated, “ICE regularly conducts targeted enforcement operations during which additional resources and personnel are dedicated to apprehending deportable foreign nationals. All enforcement activities are conducted with the same level of professionalism and respect that ICE officers exhibit every day.”

“The focus of these operations is no different than the routine, targeted arrests carried out by ICE’s Fugitive Operations Teams on a daily basis,” the ICE statement concluded.

Yup. One of them "assumed" my sisters SSN. She was on disability from a serious car wreck, and when the income was reported using her STOLEN SSN it was stopped. Three years later, it's still not fixed.

Identity theft is a serious problem. Using someone else's SSN Is a big problem. It's not a benefit.

If we need more Laborers then they need to leave, get in line and come in legally . There is going to be a big door in the wall. Illegals that are not working or have a criminal record need to be sent back. If somebody has been employed and not illegally voted or broken the law it has been inferred they may be able to stay.

Lol. The illegals are rushing into Canada! Hopefully we can funnel the refugees from terror states up there too. They said they wanted them so maybe the president can open up the firehose!!

Thank you mr President!

DP. Here's an example of how Americans won't work on farms, even if they pay more than minimum wage.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2013/05/15/north-carolina-needed-6500-farm-workers-only-7-americans-stuck-it-out/?utm_term=.3f7b4e09ef1e

"That willingness, he finds, is basically nonexistent. Every year from 1998 to 2012, at least 130,000 North Carolinians were unemployed. Of those, the number who asked to be referred to NCGA was never above 268 (and that number was only reached in 2011, when 489,095 North Carolinians were unemployed). The share of unemployed asking for referrals never breached 0.09 percent.

When native unemployed people are referred to NCGA, they're almost without exception hired; between 1998 and 2011, 97 percent of referred applicants were hired. But they don't tend to last. In 2011, 245 people were hired out of 268 referred, but only 163 (66.5 percent) of the hired applicants actually showed up to the first day of work. Worse, only seven lasted to the end of the growing season:"

If you get rid of welfare and food stamps and section 8 and Medicaid Americans will work on farms.
