Maryland politicians in Annapolis and Baltimore don't want the competition. How does it help them personally? It's just more constituents to deal with, and more competition for top positions. Non-political Maryland residents probably don't much care. but MD pols would fight it. |
They shouldn't worry too much. I can't imagine that most DC politicians would be competitive in MD statewide races, even in the Dem primary. That's probably one reason why DC politicos aren't thrilled by retrocession to MD. |
