We are talking about 3 year olds, not 15 year olds. If your 15 year old boy wants to wear a dress and nail polish, well, he probably already knows his identity but feel free to see someone to help him deal with it. At 3? You're the crazy one.

I'm glad to see we're not the only ones with this issue as the seasons age, but yes, nail polish totally worked! |
For fuck's sake. |
So....should I be concerned that my little girl refuses to wear dresses or put ponytails/clips/headbands in her hair? She also likes to play with trains and trucks. Oh, the horrors!!! You have serious, serious problems PP. I hope your child grows up more open minded than you. |
Same here! My ears were pierced when I was a baby, so I have no issues with my DD piercing her ears when she's ready and wants them. That said, I don't wear earrings very often, so she doesn't see them very often, and therefore hasn't asked about them yet. |

Just a coat slapped on at home? Sure, why not?
A mani at a salon? Heck no, not till she's a teen or older. |
Wow....my ultra-masculine veteran DH took me too get my nails done on a date---he got purple. Honestly, if you think nail polish is going to encourage your son to be gay, there are bigger issues. |
| My middle son wore nail polish for nearly a year when he was around 4. No big deal. He's 10, straight (he has confirmed that he is very interested in girls), sees his father everyday, and required no psychological evaluations. He just liked colors. I still have some of the garish greens, blacks and oranges w/ big silver flakes hanging out in the cabinet. He still likes pedicures (who doesn't?) but he has no interest in polish anymore. |
4 y/o DS loves polish and I see no problem with it. He is very artistic and also loves to paint so I think it's just another way of expressing himself. As an aside, his preschool teachers told me that lots of boys come with painted nails and sometimes so do the dads of girls because they let the little girls paint their nails! loosen up people. If you're not comfortable with it, don't do it. I wouldn't let my kid have a mohawk or wear those shirts with cut off sleeves because where I'm from that's considered really trashy. That's just me though, so somebody else wants to do it fine. Easy peasy.

| Sure - why not. Just get the healthy stuff. I see lots of mother / daughter pairs getting manis and pedis together; I think it is cute. Doesn't have to be a regular thing. |
+1 DD is 3. Luckily she hasn't asked yet. But when she does the answer will be no |
| We painted DS's toes at three. He asked. I had just had my toes done. It was fun, and we have done it a few times since. |
To pick up an interesting question a PP has asked earlier in this thread: what's your (all the PPs quoted above) stance on circumcision? Out of curiosity... |
| No, but you do you. |
| I paint my 3 yo nails and IDGAF what anyone else thinks. |
