Gas bill has a minimum (it's like $20?) and in the summer, the hot water is the only use of the gas in our house. So I'm not wasting any money. |
Cool/Cold - dark clothes
Warm - Towels/Sheets Hot - White clothing Cool - Underwear/Bras Everyone's stuff is generally washed separately. Didn't grow up that way, just started to happen. Kid, Mom, Dad (Dad will throw all his stuff in together with a color catcher) |
I admit, my mother wasn't the greatest but she sure delivered on the softest and best smelling laundry over anyone.
She is no longer here so I just do it like this: (My laundry results are just average so you may be better off asking Martha Stewart)...Lol. I wash whites, lights/pastels and darks in separate washes. And I always use WARM water, the normal cycle. And I don't know why. I never put bras in the dryer and I wash my bed sheets weekly as well. And I always air dry my rugs so they do not deteriorate quickly. Plus I always take my stuff out of the dryer, fold them immediately then put them away. Saves a lot of unnecessary time ironing. Tip: For softer whites, use a tiny drop of bleach. And Wisk is the best laundry detergent ever for stains. |
When I say for softer whites use the bleach, am not implying that bleach softens the whites. What I mean is that if you use more than a drop your whites can come out stiff and dry. |
No one else washes their underwear separate? You people are gross. |
Why is your underwear so dirty? You are gross. |
This is what I do, except I will seperate light/dark if I'm washing dark denim. |
I do whites warm.
Dark/colors cold. I thought warm or hot would ruin colors--fade them. |
who has enough underwear to fill a load of laundry? Are you wasting water and energy? I'm going to hold that against you someday. |
