At what age did your child stop wearing a bib?

Im a minimalist my kids never wore one, just changed shirts and then wipes the floor as needed. I find the bibs with the pockets especially disgusting as good just collects there gross.

I like the pocket ones! As I’m cleaning up her meal, I just turn it inside out, and a quick rinse with a little soap under the faucet and it’s dry for her next meal. I agree bibs are necessary, but I like that her shirt is always clean after eating!

Should say I agree they are not* necessary

My husband is a dentist so I had him bring several bib holders home so my messy boys could use them to secure a paper napkin around their necks so that their shirts stay clean during meal time. We mostly use them when eating messier foods and when they are wearing nicer clothes. The bib clips come in handy when we go out to eat in restaurants after church. My boys are 11 and 12 and they don’t mind wearing their napkin over their shirts.

My kids are 5, 3 and 6 months and they all wear bibs. I'm sort of a laundry freak and I hate stains on clothes. None of them have ever complained. We probably wouldn't wear a bib at a restaurant, but it's been a while since we've been in one.

We like the "make my day" bibs. We only have bought 5 and they've been going strong for 5 years now with constant use. AMAZING bibs! They can go in the top rack of the dishwasher but usually we just wipe them.

I love the M2m Long Sleeved Wonder Bib. For most things they stop using them by age 2.5 - 3. For messy stuff or stuff that stains then till around 4.5.

Ask DH to keep replacing her ruined clothes.
What’s wrong with him?

Transitioned out of real bibs around age 3 or 4 to paper napkin bibs. I make sure my boys wear a paper napkin bib during meal times but not at school. We have saved many shirts from spaghetti sauce, mustard, ketchup, gravy, bbq, etc. My boys are 8, 10, and 12.

Wait you still make your five year old wear a bib? Is this a joke?

Mine is 2.5 and the food stains drive me nuts, especially when it doesn't come out in the wash. I usually take her shirt off if it's something remotely messy but if I am in a pinch I still try to put a bib on her.

About 2 1/2 after teaching them to use a napkin

Teach your kids to use silverware properly and they won’t get too messy. If they do work on dressing and training them to help do the laundry, Maybe they mess up but they’re learning at least.

At about age 3 or 4 we transitioned from bibs to paper napkins tucked in their shirt collars during meal times. The boys dont seem to mind the napkin and we have saved many shirts from ruin. We have made this a requirment for many years, so it is pretty automatic now so when they first sit down to eat, they automatically tuck their paper napkin in their collars without my husband or i having to remnd them.

Wear a bib or not - totally up to you. We basically didn't do bibs at all with our second child (maybe a few times when he was a baby trying solids for the first time). We just washed his clothes a lot. Age doesn't matter - it's how messy and whether you want to wash more or less.

30...does it matter?

About 4.5 for my compliant younger child. Sometimes I still ask her to wear it for soup. My older kid stopped at 3 but honestly he still needed one, he just wouldn't wear it. He's 8 and he only now eats soup without spilling it on himself. His shirts are incredibly stained. If I had a nickel for every time I nagged him to use a napkin or a fork, I'd be a millionaire. The kid tries to eat rice with his bare hands.
