Girls on HBO

I've really tried to like the show, but I can't. While we did a lot of growing up and made many mistakes in our young 20s, my best friends and I were a lot more together than the characters in Girls. And we looked good naked (still do).

My twenties weren't like that. I was pretty responsible, had a job, an apartment, a dog. Most of my friends also had jobs that they cared about and were pretty focused on supporting themselves.

This whole show is the definition of nepotism and family connections. Everyone involved with it is related to someone famous. You're right that Williams is the least talented, though.

Whaaaat? My understanding is that many of the central characters come from artistic families, but none of them are "connected" in the way that you infer. Williams' father is a network news anchor, but that's still a stretch.

David mamet's daughter = shoshanna. Lena Dunham is the child of a NYC-famous writer. "Jessa" is her best childhood friend from NYC school.

Zosia Mamet was a television actor before Girls. And why wouldn't Dunham collaborate with friend and colleague Jemima Kirke? I work in a creative field and frequently collaborate with friends on projects. Dunham's father is a painter and her mother is a photographer. She comes from a creative family. How is that nepotism?

Who care about nepotism on a tv show. The show is terrible.

Nepotism has always made Hollywood go 'round. Get over it you prudes.

And there could be a much better show occupying that timeslot, but the creators, writers and directors of that show didn't have connected parents, so we will never get to see it. Now do you get it?

You're a prude.

Ha! I'm not a prude - I'm one of the ones in the "How many partners do you want for your daughter" thread whose "number" is about 30. I even watch the show - I just don't think it is very good - although the scene last night in the coffee shop with Amy Schumer was very funny.
