these ocare numbers are terrible.

and i wonder what will happen when the employer mandate kicks in.

I definitely believe by 2016, we will see a progressive in the D primaries destroying ocare as a sellout to insurers and pharma and drive for public option, single payer

I am a supporter of single payer . . .

Well, of course you are. What socialist doesn't support single payer/complete government control?
socialists also support breathing air but it doesn't make all of us socialists.

He didn't exactly rush to deny being a socialist either.

Well gosh, I would much rather people be forced to buy insurance to protect themselves than be forced into bankruptcy for getting sick without insurance like I was.

Except it doesn't work that way.
People are forced to pay much more for these new policies and the deductibles are astronomical. $12,000 deductible and you're still fucked by a medical crisis.

So, you didn't have any debts but medical ones?

I wish I knew how to paste a picture here. Have you seen that awesome meme that says "What kind of socialist bastard would want everyone to have healthcare?" The picture, of course, is of Jesus healing the sick.

I know a hardworking, self-employed documented immigrant who has nearly gone bankrupt paying out of pocket for surgeries that were absolutely necessary. It was thrilling to learn that she signed up for Obamacare and now has affordable health insurance for herself and her family. Who can possibly find this kind of thing objectionable?

Curious: why didnt' she purchase health insurance before she was sick?

Not PP, but perhaps because she had a preexisting condition?

The government could have come up with some kind of plan for those who did not qualify. I know it didn't=but it could have.

This is an absurd statement. By the time someone goes bankrupt, they are unable to pay off a lot of their obligations - credit cards, mortgage, rent, car payments, etc. But the fact remains that medical bills are the #1 cause of personal bankruptcy in the US.
Anonymous
The studies also show that lots of those people who went bankrupt had medical insurance. Obamacare won't change that.

DP here. What, we're supposed to all gasp at the fact that you used the word "socialist"?

1) Lots of people who aren't socialists support single payer. In fact, probably a majority of people who support single payer are not socialists. Just a guess but I bet I'm right.
2) Who cares if someone is a socialist?
3) Learn to make an actual informed argument rather than just throwing (what you think is) an epithet around.

Not very impressive on your part, pp. Do better.

Single payer is socialized medicine.

Calling people socialist is a fascist habit. Fascist!

No, I don't really believe that, but it's no less ridiculous than crying "socialist" all the time.

Look it up. Single payer is socialized medicine. Fact.

Medicare is socialized medicine.
