Vote for Best Hamburgers in DC area?

I just don't like meat that is cooked on a flat top (like frying in a pan). The meat just taste like foreign matter cooked in grease. Much better when a flame hits it....

I vote for BGR with Good Stuff as a close #2.

Johnny Rockets is disgusting.

Shake Shack or Orange & Black

The burger with pesto and prosciutto at The Palm is out of this world.

But did you ever even like 5 Guys? Because the anti-5 guys people seem to like a totally different sort of burger. 5 Guys (and its knock off Z-Burger) are a type of finely ground, skillet seared, consistently delicious burger. I mean they're not flame broiled angus sirloin smoked over Jack daniel's soaked applewood chips or whatever. Sometimes people are comparing apple and oranges type burgers here.

Best fast, east coast version of In-and-Out burger is Ray's Hellburger or 5 Guys. Reliably delicious every time. There are great burgers else where in DC--hell, even the Tune Inn can fry up a great one now and again.

I even like Ollies now and then

I went to Shake Shack yesterday and it was absolutely disgusting. A greasy, slimy mess, the only discernible taste was fat. The fries are unpleasant, and there is no tabasco or vinegar available.

It was at the opposite end of the spectrum from Rays and BGR.

I wouldn't say they are the best in the area, but I wanted to give a shout-out to Holy Cow in Del Ray.

My DH is a Five Guys fan, but Holy Cow is my new favorite. I like it because it is convenient, and because they offer a lot of options. My DH can get his old fashioned cheeseburger, while I might opt for a veggie burger or a turkey burger on a wheat roll. You can even get your burger in a lettuce wrap instead. I really appreciate the healthier options. Fries are pretty tasty, too.

I recently went to Elevation Burger and felt the same way. I'm never scared off by greasy burgers but this one was exactly how you describe above. I couldn't have said it better!

I'm a big burger lover and always find Irish Pubs to have good burgers. Ireland's 4 Ps in Falls Church has GREAT burgers.

BGR is my favorite right now.

I love the burgers at Ted's Montana Grill. But I also love Five Guys if I'm in a hurry, and Red Robin.
