How many spears of asparagus in a serving?

Anonymous
Make more asparagus than you think you need. Next day, whiz up the leftovers with any roast potatoes you still have and some chicken broth, water, or even a little white wine. Add a little cream afterwards if you care to and you end up with some awesome soup for lunch. This works well for leftover broccoli, too.

None of you deserve to be invited anywhere and should stay at home where you can spend your own money, make whatever you want, complain about how wronged you've been and how no one likes you.

OP. If you haven't had the dinner party, I would recommend getting more asparagus or another vegetable. If not, then have a nice dinner party and may you have significantly nicer friends and guests than the rabble on DCUM.

2%? I'm 1% baby...or skim.

I had to click on this post because there were 5 pages discussing the amount of spears in a serving of asparagus. Fascinating!

We do not take this lightly, are you a 3 or 5 spearer?

6 spears. 3 is not enough.

Not much of a risk taker, are you? Six is merely one more than the suggested serving size.

Six! You cut them in half for an even dozen pieces.

Me too I do not understand how an asparagus serving discussion is that exciting.

Let's examine this from a game theory perspective.

Suppose there are 10 guests at the dinner party.

OP has allocated 3 spears per guest, or 30 spears. She is assuming rational decision making by all of her guests, and cooperation with the 30 spears. Is this a valid assumption?
What if the first five guests monopolize, for example, 25 spears, by allocating 5 spears each. There would be five spears left for the five remaining guests.

Competition at this dinner party for the remaining asparagus could segue into chaos.

OP here -

This thread is amazing. I ended up serving broccoli and there was plenty of leftovers.

Not with a bang but a whimper.
