Actually, that is not accurate!

This woman believes that Creationism should be taught in all public schools. I find that a great deal more than just deeply disturbing. First of all we have separation of church and State. Secondly, I thought only really, really stupid, ignorant LUNATICS belived in Creationism. Its the nuttiest of theories. It flies on the face of all that is rational and based in science and fact and reality. Its total fringe-wacko-theory territory. HOW can McCain want this woman by his side in the White House??????

I believe that Creationism should be taught in public schools. As should Pastafarianism (that the world was created by the Flying Spaghetti Monster). As well as evolution.

30% time for each.

All hail the Lord Flying Spaghetti Monster and His Noodly Appendage.

Please don't call me a lunatic because Ibelieve the Flying Spaghetti Monster created the world. I am perfectly sane, and you should elect me Vice President because of the strength of my beliefs, and the firmess of my convictions. I stick to my beliefs no matter what evidence is presented to me, because my belief in the flying spaghetti monster is based in faith not research or science.

And you can trust me with the nuclear codes.

I wrote the first post, you wrote the second and I think I love you! Thanks for making me laugh.

And 12:21, THANK YOU, TOO. I have read about Palin's "version" about Creationism, about the age of the earth, about dinosuars and humans living together, and details about the churches she attended, and I repeat, HOW can McCain want this looney tune in the White House??

I think the inaccurate person here is the the one who assumes I dont understand Palin's "flavor" of Creationism.

12:11 if you actually WATCHED interviews with Sarah Palin instead of getting your news from who knows where, you would know that she DOES believe in Evolution, no matter what she says. Perhaps the "sources" you quote would benefit from more scrutiny.

If you think it is impossible for policticians to separate their politics from their religion, then let's talk about pro-choice "catholic" democrats.

No. Let's not. The thread is about Sarah Palin. Crazy wacky lunatic dinosaur-riding Sarah Palin. Deal with it.

While we are on the looks, McCain was hot as hell as a young man.

Wow, what incisive commentary! What a brilliant mind! Call the Nobel Prize committee!

Oh, did I hurt your little feelings about Hillary? Too bad, she is ugly. It may not be incisive, but neither is discussing Palin's hair or McCains lack of color. Get over yourself.

Ha ha! My feelings aren't hurt. I'm just amused by how badly you make an argument.

Eeeewwww! You think Clinton is ugly and Palin is beautiful! Wow, I'm just floored by the brilliance of your argument. Let's nominate you for Secretary of State! No, even better, Supreme Court!

I am not making an argument, just stating a fact. You are being a jackass!

Nope -- I think you are wrong. She didn't say that she believes in evolution. Please post a link to that, if you have it!

This is her record as far as I can find it:

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/sliming_palin.html

In an Oct. 25, 2006, debate, when asked about teaching alternatives to evolution, Palin replied:

Palin, Oct. 25, 2006: Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both. And you know, I say this too as the daughter of a science teacher. Growing up with being so privileged and blessed to be given a lot of information on, on both sides of the subject – creationism and evolution. It's been a healthy foundation for me. But don't be afraid of information and let kids debate both sides.

She said, "teach both". This says to me that she believed at the time that both Creationism and Evolution were equally valid.

A couple of days later, Palin amended that statement in an interview with the Anchorage Daily News, saying:

Palin, Oct. 2006: I don't think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn't have to be part of the curriculum.

After her election, Palin let the matter drop.

She said, "It doesn't have to be a part of the curriculum". This says to me that someone explained to her that her position, "Teach both" was not politically a good idea.

Now on the Hannity interview, recently -- when she is running for VP, she said:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,425161,00.html

HANNITY: Did you only want to teach creationism in school and not evolution?

PALIN: No. In fact, growing up in a school teacher's house with a science teacher as a dad, you know, I have great respect for science being taught in our science classes and evolution to be taught in our science classes.

So she says, she didn't only want Creationism taught, she wanted to have BOTH taught.

I do not see her saying that she believes Evolution is true. In fact I am very sure she does not. So she cannot say anything, because if she does say "evolution is true" there are a BUNCH of poeple up in Alaska who can say she is lying.

And what bothers me about this evolution issue and Palin is this:

It isn't what she'll do with policy -- she can clearly be political and go with the flow when it suits her purposes. No, what bothers me is I do not want a literal creationist New Earther in charge or potentially in charge of the United States of America.

Even if her father was a science teacher.

(PS: no offense to well meaning people who do literally believe the Bible is true, by the way. I think you are great people, just please don't run for president or VP)

Hey - my daughter refused to breastfeed and I had to pump for 9 months - she did not have ANY formula for the first 6... I think we need to find something else to attack her on - perhaps her preggers daughter, and abandoning her kids to campaign AND run a state

BTW it turns out the correct term for the type of Creationism I've been referring to that I think is very wacky is "Young Earth Creationism" which would make a believer/proponent a "Young Earther" not a "New Earther". My bad!

A lot of creationists believe in "microevolution" (small scale changes over time) but draw the line at "macroevolution" (species level changes). So Palin could believe in evolution and still be a young earth creationist.

Hillary Clinton is not ugly.

I'd much rather live the life of Hillary Clinton than that of Sarah Palin.

Just curious - how does a human being become capable of this kind of vitriol toward a complete stranger? Did something awful happen to you in your life? If so, I'm sorry. Honestly.
