Jo Malone is great - spend a few minutes at the counter there and smell a few. You'll find one you love.

I love Jo Malone's tuberose body lotion.

My mother gave me bottles of Clinique's Happy perfume as gifts for years, and I didn't have the heart to tell her I don't like it (on me). My sister likes it, and it smells much better on her, so I've always quietly slipped it to her when our mother is not around. Fast forward to last December, and I suggest to my husband that he take DS to Sephora to pick out a perfume for me as a Christmas gift. One guess as to what they chose. Out of the hundreds of perfumes in that store- CLINIQUE HAPPY. The universe wants me to like it, apparently.

If OP is still reading: get Perfumes: The Guide by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez.

If you're looking for a perfume that doesn't smell like the dreck that is 95% of perfume, try Lucky Scent. You can samples of almost all of their perfumes for around three to four dollars. I'd love to, but I am pregnant and the idea of purposefully putting something that smells on my skin that's only going to make me want to vomit later seems foreign to me. Maybe in a few months.

I wear the La Vanilla roller ball in pure vanilla from Sephora. Yeah, it's cheap. But it drives the men wild ladies. ha.

I usually like fresh, citrusy, green scents and these have all worked well for me:

Sisley Eau de Sisley #1 or #3
Annick Goutal Mandragore
Hermès Un Jardin sur le Nil or Un Jardin en Méditerranée
BVLGARI BLV II
Fresh Sugar Lychee, Citron de Vigne or Hesperides, Pomegranate Anis
Jo Malone Grapefruit, Lime Basil Mandarin, or Pomegranate Noir (I know her scents are everywhere now but I still like them)

Less expensive brands include:

Pacifica's Tuscan Blood Orange, Brazillian Mango Grapefruit or Metditerranean Fig
L`Occitane Citrus Verbena

You should be able to get mini spray samples of anything they have at Sephora and Nordstrom so pick a few you want to try for a couple of days and then order online to save a trip back to the store.

Jo Malone's French Lime Blossom. I've been wearing it for years. It's lovely - and might fight what you are looking for.

Nordstrom is great and very helpful I like Flower Bomb, Hanna Mori Original or No4, TRish Mcavy No9

The Jo Malone suggestion is a good one. And Clinique Happy. Hermes has a line of perfumes based on different flowers or natural scents that you should check out. I like the amber one, but it doesn't sound like what you're looking for.

Also, the purple Love's perfume is lavender. My mom and I did a homemade Christmas gift project where we made lavender scented ball salts and used that perfume as the fragrance.

I'm pretty sure it's jasmine, and not lavender (my go-to jr high scent --loved that stuff)
