Does Chase let you transfer miles to a different person - we have the Chase Sapphire (got it recently). I'm the secondary card holder. If I get a Freedom and earn points on that, can I transfer it to the Sapphire Preferred? |
Curious how much you spend per month across the cards to get the free travel? And is it worth paying the annual fee on these? |
Chase lets you transfer points to someone who shares your address, assuming they have a point-earning Chase card. You have to call them to set it up, but afterwards you can just transfer points to them and vice versa in the app. You can move points freely across your own cards. |
NP. How does 60,000 points get you 2 RT tickets? I'm sitting on 130k points with Chase. |
After the initial setup we can move it ourselves? I'm thinking of getting my own Chase Freedom card to earn points on groceries and then transfer it to my household Chase Sapphire Preferred (maybe even not be an authorized user on that one so I can apply later with SUB) |
I explained in a recent thread when someone asked how to spend 100k Chase points. Currently Air France sells economy tickets to Paris for 19k points. There is a 20% transfer bonus in effect so it’s about 16k after that. So it’s 64k for two RT. You can buy the few points you’re lacking. |
Yes it will show in your transfer menu. |
Or you can take a cheap flight to Cartagena with Avianca and stay in a beautiful oceanfront Hyatt. You have enough for a long weekend. Get club access to cover breakfast and happy hour snacks. |
Thank you! |
Thank you! I will look into this. If I transfer my points how long would it be valid for with a partner? |
Every airline has its own rules but it’s typically at least 24 months. My suggestion to you is to transfer only when you have your itinerary in mind and you have confirmed the tickets for your dates are available. Don’t transfer for “some time in the future”. Hotel points last longer as I recall. |
Which dates are you able to see in the Chase portal for the 19000 points PP? I don't see any one way under $1000? |
Don’t use Chase portal. Never use any credit card portals for flights. Check with the airline directly. At present May 24 thru June 1 are priced at 18,750 miles through Air France. Later in June, June 3, 4, 7, 8, 16 and 21 are also available at the same rate. |
Thank you! I also see a $144 or $134 along with the miles - so does that mean the cheapest one way is 18750 miles (or $187) + $134? So I end up paying the equivalent of $642. |
Yes correct. That’s taxes and fees. But there is a transfer bonus to Air France right now so you’ll need 20% fewer points. |
