I don’t disagree on either point. But, at the end of the day, decisions still need to made about where and how to allocate police resources. But what’s the alternative to using data to make those decisions? Using gut feelings and political pressure? Is that better?

The solution is to dismantle and defund the police. We need less so-called "law enforcement," not more.

You'll see how that works out in New York by March 2026.

Your parents have internalized racism. Minorities don't have free time or the safe environments to do those things you mentioned. They are busy rushing between three jobs and dodging a hail of bullets.

People forget that a traffic stop was the reason Oklahoma City bomber Terry McVeigh was captured and brought to justice quickly. Pulling people over for minor traffic infractions catches a lot of people that do bad things.

People worry about illegal guns on the streets. A lot of those guns that are confiscated by police come from pretextual traffic stops. Proactive policing saves lives.

I personally am acquainted with numerous people who are employees in our business who were delighted in being criminals and enthusiastically commit crimes even in an absence of needing to. They simply enjoy it. One of them robbed and stabbed a man several years ago just because he was bored. He was arrested, convicted, but served almost no time. I think a couple of them may have murdered people in the past but were never identified as suspects.


But you are seriously mistaken and naive if you think “no one wants to be a criminal”.

This is true. I've known people who shoplift for fun, not because they need the item. I think this happens even with really rich ladies. There's always a few of them in the news (Winona Ryder, Lindsay Lohan).

So to extrapolate, I bet there's people who do other crimes just for fun. Particularly car theft.

Young people are forced into committing car theft and carjacking due to income inequality.

Because they don't earn enough income from their part time jobs at McDonalds to buy the latest phones, basketball shoes, braids, and nails, so they are forced to steal and hijack cars, sell them to chops and bride the gap. Gurl --- you be 6 and 7.
