HYP Interview - only 30 min

A thank-you email (while nice) has no impact on my assessment. None whatsoever.

I’m writing the report right away while the details are fresh, and it’s probably submitted about half an hour after the interview ends. While I am pleased to see a thank you note, the presence of one or lack thereof plays no role in my write up, because it’s already done. I would never think to mention that in my write up even if I’m delayed in doing the report.

It’s still good practice to teach your kids to do it, because someday it might matter and it sends the code that you know social and business customs. But it’s not getting you in to, or keeping you out of, Yale.

For the person who didn’t get an interview yet, they come to us in batches so I’m sure they aren’t all pushed out yet. For the EA round, the window is short, so please check your email/texts daily and get in touch quickly if you do get one. But you could also be in an area with too many applicants and not a lot of interviewers, so they just don’t get to it.

+100
Same here

How do you know that the interview made a difference at Harvard (or did not at a different HYPSM)?

At Harvard, you can see the admissions file. I can tell you exactly what they thought of DC’s activities, essays, LORs, etc.

The other HYPSM DC was accepted to — well known that interview does not count there.

They exist to engage alumni to make them think they are a part of the "HYP" process so they give substantial bucks. Google it. The fact that you got 10 min, 30 min, 45 min. means nothing. My kid has five Ivy League interviews and was waitlisted at all, even as a (not big funder) legacy at two.

Honestly I’m not surprised your kid was waitlisted even with legacy at 2. Just read your post. It really sounds like sour grapes to me. My DC read their admission file and the interview was everything.

True from what I understand - I can't comment as much on the influence they have, but everyone gets one if possible for the HYP I interview for

This is Princeton!

Can you ask about Larry Summer’s close relationship with Epstein right up to 2019 ?

Be kind. Their kid couldn’t read their file because they didn’t get in anywhere.

Interview at Y means that they are on the fence.

Not always. My friend's kid was accepted to Yale (RD) without an interview.

I don't think you understand. Yale has said it interviews when they feel they need more information. So your friend's kid was already in the admit pile without an interview, meaning Yale was not on the fence.

I'm not sure if everyone will get an Interview at Princeton.

My DD got the interview request and is scheduled for this weekend; while her friend (from a different school but in same region) didn't get it yet.
