Some actors get typecast and as long as the work is steady they don't see the need to branch out creatively.

We applauded every time she did crinkle face and wobble mouth. We called it "doing a Carrie"

nah it's just the Claire. See also Romeo + Juliet and Little Women.

Relieved that Steve came through to the end. I’m pretty sure most viewers had that fear.
Agree about the padded room with the kid tied up in HER house. Implausible.
I give it an A-/B+

I'd give it a B, but only because of some good performances. Especially Matthew Rhys and the FBI agent.

I would not put those two in the same category. MR is world class. The guy who played the FBI agent is dumb as a box of rocks and it showed in his performance. Bad casting.

It was the writing not the performance imo.

Yes please, cameras high enough to not be tampered with, without being noticed and security alarms people. That was one of the authentic themes within the show, some wealthy people must think they are very invincible. That or they enjoy filing insurance claims when they get “robbed.”

An excellent performer rises above bad writing - aka Matthew Rhys, while a poor actor cannot.

NP. I disagree. And I thought the FBI agent was the most human, appealing character in the show. I was saddest when he died.

You can disagree all you like. Clearly you have zero inside knowledge in the film / theatre and television industry.

DP. You don't have to have inside knowledge of TV/film (and I do) to find a performance believable. Personally, I wasn't drawn to that actor's performance, but he did the co-star thing of moving the story along.

This started off really good but the end didn’t keep up the same quality in the final few episodes. I find this very typical of Netflix series.

MR was super creepy and did a great job. Made me want to go back and watch The Americans. CD was good in the first half but as her character unraveled, she was too over the top with it. I enjoyed Brittany Snow as well.

I feel like Brian confronting Nile with a leg wound and no backup on Jarvis property was the point at which this show jumped the shark for me. After that I checked this thread, saw the spoilers about more totally ridiculous developments, and now I’m just kind of hate-watching it.

Spoiler, season 2 starts with Steve snuffed out.

It wasn't a great show, it wasn't a believable show, but I sure binge watched through it pretty quick, I wanted to see how they wrapped it up, didn't expect a demon seed baby to be the resolution.

That said, I’m halfway in and really enjoying it! CD and MR are phenomenal actors and I love seeing them in anything, so seeing them together is fantastic.

Yeah, something looked off and I couldn't figure out what it is. I think he looks older than I do, which didn't seem right, so I even looked up his age and he's younger than I am. Hope he isn't sick or something.

Ha! I just finished it and looked up her age and was surprised to see she's younger than me. I guess the role demands her not to look great but....and the shower scene that shows his body...nothing to aspire to.
