If the v neck or polo styles don't work, you can do a boat or square or jewel neck. Cardigans are nice because you can adjust the amount of skin you show based on how much you unbutton it.

The key is a thin, fine knit in a body skimming (not tight, but something that will graze your body and show some shape) fabric. Ribbing is great for this. You can wear it with jeans and boots for a casual date, over a slip dress or with a mini skirt to feminize it more, with wide leg trousers for after work drinks, etc.

The big patterned and cutwork blouses people are linking might work for some women if that is your style and you can pull it off, but a lot of women won't feel comfortable in that, especially on a date. The thin knits are a lot more versatile and easy to dress up or down with jewelry and other clothes. I am also seeing a lot of knit dresses, if you have the body for it. Look amazing with boots. The more body con it is, the more covered up it should be to balance it. So like a fitted sheath dress, but it's long sleeve with a mock neck, worn with tall boots.

Ok this is DCUM. We are tired moms with limited energy. I am trying to look halfway decent without spending a ton of energy or a ton of money. I live in a suburb and work for the government. I don’t have a place in my life for high fashion. Making enough of a nod towards trends to not embarrass my tween is really what I’m going for.

If you love and appreciate avant garde clothing this may not be the best place to find your people. I’m sure there are other places! I am just tired and old and have no idea where that would be. Maybe Vogue has a comment section on their website?

Me too. I love shopping at TJ Maxx as I find all sorts of things and for what it’s worth I have no problem spending upwards of 300 on these kind of shirts. For whatever reason I get good fines at Ross, Marshalls and TJ Maxx and end up getting more compliments on those than what I buy in Nordstrom.
