Case now confirmed that the cyclist was at fault during the accident. |
Sorry your power went out as you were unable to finish typing that the bus driver kept going after he hit her. That’s why he’s being criminally charged. The investigation will show what killed her. |
He stopped first and then moved forward 27 feet, which isn't much. Surprised he is being cited since his moving forward after impact didn't cause the accident. I've never driven a bus but would you even feel the impact in a vehicle that large? Is criminally charged the right language? It's a citation with an appearance in court and a fine, isn't it? |
DP. It says he moved 27 feet. That's less than a bus length. You make it sound like a hit and run. |
God so sad all around. I am sure the driver is devastated. My kid is going to wood in the fall and has brought up this student several times
|
I don't see a point in charging this man if he didn't know that he'd hit a child or moved the bus for safety reasons, unaware that a child was under it. |
I agree. Devastating what happened to Summer but the bus driver’s actions didn’t cause her death. My guess is he wasn’t sure what he hit as there are traffic softening devices in that area and loud children on the bus. I’m sure he was pulling forward out of the intersection to do an inspection. |
This was barely a third of a mile from a school. Who's going to take a bus? |
You are sure?? And if he ran over an injured person and killed them? |
|
This, Mcps needs more safety measures on buses. |
Such as? |
| Sorry the child passed. It is about time fault is placed on bicyclist though. Bicyclist are ridiculous. Shame on the parents for letting her go on her own. Did she even wear a helmet? |
It wasn’t placed on her alone. The bus driver has been criminally charged. |
The police issued a traffic citation for negligent driving. That's different than a criminal charge. |
