10 meter sprint, double leg jump, 5m-10m-5m dribble, T-Drill dribbling, 10-5-5 Dribble, 20 sec jugging with weak foot, alternating feet, and strong foot.

For all the detractors, we're talking about baseline technical stuff. Can your kid dribble with pace and control? Can they juggle the ball? What's their general level of athleticism. Tactical and "game IQ" is something that can be layered on and developed in most coaches eyes. Obviously not a catch all, but it's something in the tool bag. If it doesn't produce anything for them, I'm sure they'll scrap it.

I agree with this assessment that it is a good baseline. My only issue is that is was only limited to “clubs” and not widely announced so we are just doing the same old thing in a different manner.

The weak foot only juggling portion of the testing had to be very entertaining

Well, how was it?

Hahahahaha what does juggling a soccer ball have to do with a player knowing how to play the game?

Do they ask kids to spin a basketball on one finger when they go to basketball tryouts to get baseline data? Clowns

that is one way to argue its worth. Coaches could simply be checking to see if players love the game enough to juggle in their spare time. Also could be a stress test

I couldn’t agree more. The obsession with juggling a ball on the feet is insane. It teaches players to keep their head down constantly. The focus on robotic foot juggling is mind boggling. The kids who are great jugglers on our team also can’t pass or look up. They love their juggling skills so much, they over dribble and don’t pass, then lose the ball. Teach a kid to do ball work w their head up.

Out of curiosity, who does your kid play for?

Juggling isn't the issue, juggling for a count is though. I tell my kids to intentionally juggle high. There is never a time in a game where you need the 6 inch juggling taps. You should be kicking the ball at least throw in height and using all surfaces of your feet and thigh to control the ball.

It was actually a well put together session. Plenty of familiar faces from this area in regards to players. High intensity drills and meaningful coaching points. Probably an easy drive for the Baltimore folks

is this actually for scouting by academies? i guess time will tell since this is new, but just wondering what the actual purpose of this is?

I am wondering the same. I was okay with the dog and pony show with AI Scout to eliminate a flood of people that you could not do basic skills or meet a minimum threshold. But without an open process and clear public communication, it seems like the same kids being recycled and I don’t understand their point.

This was more open than most IDs. You literally had an open app to submit to. That wasn't the only way to get invited though. Would you consider the US soccer regional IDs to be open or something? Philly Union hosted the event, so obviously they're scouting. There was a USYNT scout there as well along with the MLS Next director. It was a solid event, doesn't hurt anything.
