Where is my necklace?

"I lost my DCUM thread?! Any idea where it could be?"

Did you check Off Topic? Relationships? (It's a wedding ring after all!) Maybe Family Relationships if it was an heirloom? Or the Food forum, maybe you wanted to post about dinner and accidentally posted about the rings there? The search function is really bad, so maybe just ask on Website Feedback? Or your browser history if its recent? Did you Bookmark it or email it to yourself?

I lose things, and have discovered that unless I happen to suddenly remember some weird moment happening around the time I lost it--some moment that was totally out of sync with the chain of events I do remember, mostly I only find it by accident or if I approach the problem as a cleaning project rather than a search, so the objective is not finding the item, it's getting the room (or rooms) completely clean and uncluttered. I feel less frustrated and crazy because I have a different goal, and usually end up finding it.

Chaotic times at home are guaranteed to result in objects going missing because your brain can't reconstruct the sequence of events.

Wow that thread is insane. What is your “theory” for how that happened?? Sleepwalking?? Gaslighting??

Hopefully OP doesn’t have any insanity like that going on in her house!

That old thread has a post about using a flashlight. I learned that during a year off college when I worked in a mine (specifically, a plant at the mine where ore was processed). Very industrial with conveyors and catwalks and giant machinery and all, and I was taught to use a flashlight when looking for something (say a tool that had dropped). It's partly about more light when you're looking, but also about making your eyes focus on the spot where the flashlight is shining.

Op, check inside your shoes. This is where I found one of my earrings once.

OP, once I put a necklace on my dresser and forgot about it. It had fallen off the back and I found it months later when I was vacuuming.

PP, I read your thread and that’s wild. What’s your theory? I’m dying to know! Please update!

Still nothing. I looked just now with a flashlight, high and low. The restaurant doesn’t have it. In the photo we took before we left the restaurant, I’m still wearing it. I absolutely did not take it off in the bathroom, I would have never told myself “it’ll be safe here” in the bathroom. I’m vaguely remembering it being place on my side of the bed, thinking I’d put it away before bed. I stripped the bed and it’s nowhere to be found. It’s the most bizarre thing ever.

I’m not giving up. I’m determined at this point!

The area between the box spring and the bed rail has been fruitful for me before for things that fell off the nightstand.

I found gold earrings once in my medicine cabinet.

Just came back from the other thread, OP here is an orange candle that I think smells nice!! https://votivo.com/products/aromatic-cndl-red-currant
But like….was the husband getting ready to pawn the jewelry, or what!?

If you stuck your bra in a dresser drawer after removing it, try looking on top of the dresser or in the actual drawer itself.

If you threw the bra into the hamper then check anywhere near where the hamper is located.
Hamper in the closet for example?
Check on the closet shelves nearby.

Good luck > I hope you find it soon‼️

I always put my jewelry on the arm of the couch. It often falls in between the cushions.

I lost an earring this way. I’m still looking for it.

I’m so intrigued by the way you took off your bra to handle the chaotic situation. Usually I put on my bra when there’s chaos to be handled.
