I didn’t say it was ok. Just that I myself am not the person in charge of managing fraud or reporting people. If FCPS can’t figure it out I dont see why OP would put that on herself. |
No they aren't allowed to do this. Just because you work for FCPS doesn't mean your kids get to attend FCPS unless you live in the county. |
But op knew and didn’t care to report it until the woman was snide with her. So she never had any moral or ethical qualms she felt called to answer for. That’s why reporting now is so lame. It’s just extreme payback for workplace friction. She did not care enough to report before. |

+1 We have known several! |
Bringing your kid to your school is a fcps employee benefit. The nurse is fine. |
Only if there is space and they pay tuition. |
Yep |
Yes, but if they live outside of Fairfax County they have to pay the per pupil cost. |
She should be reported and be forced to pay back the schooling costs for as long as the fraud went on. The child can go to school in PG County. |
Any time is a good time to grow a backbone and start doing the right thing. |
Are you daft? MCPS has exactly the same problem. This is what I'm telling you: that despite facing the same issues, I would not report. My kids' school is the one often used by kids living elsewhere. In fact, I know some of them personally. I would never dream of reporting them! Despite the boundaries that will soon be changed. This isn't a question of which school it is exactly. It's a moral question involving school residency fraud and workplace harassment that could happen anywhere. My point is that OP should look towards addressing the workplace issues directly. After she reports this family, her workplace meanie is still going to be exactly the same mean person she was before, so what will OP achieve? Just making a child's life harder. You might rejoice because a cheater has been punished, but for OP, her life will stay exactly the same. Please keep up. |
FCPS should do the exact opposite of what MCPS would do. The decline in quality of MCPS schools over the past few decades has been epic. |
We don't want to pay for Maryland students to be educated in Virginia. Based on the school quality, I hoghly doubt that this problem is occuring in reverse. |
No, if her FCPS high school is getting rezoned becuase of overcrowding due to fraudulent addresses used by Maryland, DC, and other Virginia county residents to chest their way into FCPS, her kids are being directly impacted by the residency fraud. In addition to rezoning, this cheating can have a significant impact on things like sports. Just look at the Hayfield football scandal last year where a bunch of Maryland, DC and Prince William County residents committed fraud, and deprived Hayfield students of their senior varsity season, and every other football team in the state from a fair football season and post season. The cheating impacts every teacher negatively, by increased class sizes and money that should be going to teachers raises going towards these kids who do not pay taxes. Every single Fairfax taxpayer and Virginia taxpayer is impacted by Maryland residency cheaters. This is not a victimless crime. |
