Heat wave

This is weather, not climate change. 90s in late June is not unusual for DC.

90s it was 101 and 102 with heat indexes between 114-127. The news is reporting the hottest on record but you can keep your little head in the sand about global warming MAGA it's fine.

Yup. People who understand science know that "weather" is determined over days to weeks, while "climate" is determined over averages involving many decades to hundreds of years of weather averages.

I blame the "news" media. They sensationalize everything now, everything is a "breaking" story and even their music/sound effects are designed to elicit fear from the viewers. Everything they do is evil now.

I assume you’re so agitated about global warming this week because all of May and June was below average and you assumed global warming was over?

It’s called weather. Day to day localized fluctuations aren’t relevant. Don’t be a moron.

Box turtles and garter snakes are hatching in my flower beds. My Rosemary, Lavender, Echinacea and Marigold are blooming like crazy at the southern side of the house. Birds are flocking to my birdbaths. I am changing water around 4 times during the day in them.

...and my potted Frangipani (Plumeria) is flowering after 5 years of nursing it...perfect!!

V early morning - I am looking at the sun for 10 minutes as it rises. 10 minutes of getting the infrared rays to charge the rods and cones of my eyes.
Morning - I am sunning myself as I do my yoga, watering all the plants and refilling the birdbaths.
Mid morning - all blinds are drawn in the Eastern side of the home to prevent the house from getting hot.

And we have solar, so sunny days means that we are making electricity at capacity and zero guilt about running our AC or charging our EV.

You lost me at snakes hatching in the flower beds. Would contemplate a move to Alaska if this was my garden.

Alaska had its first ever head advisory this week.

Enoughs enough now lived here since 1979 and we have never had a heat wave lasting this long that had heat indexes steady at 105-127. Ever.

BS. In 2012 or 2013 we had one the entire week of July 4

Yeah this is a mild year overall so far across the entire country. The media just makes it "extreme" all the time now for ratings, because MSM is losing all it's viewers due to all their lying.

In 60 years the DMV projected to feel like NW Louisiana, according to U of Maryland.

You can put in any city. https://fitzlab.shinyapps.io/cityapp/

Perhaps, but this was an extreme event in many places. All time records were tied in NY and Maine, and perhaps elsewhere. All time records for warm overnight lows were set or tied in five states.

Look up their funding sources. Check for strings or vague donations and sources of hidden funding. Always good to do that.

This is miserable. I feel trapped inside.

And it's not even that hot.

Are you new to the area? I'm with you in that I find this weather miserable, but it's pretty typical. Only 2-3 more months to go...

Get out more and you will get acclimated to it. Just accept that you will sweat.

Lifelong resident here. I can remember many late June days in the 90s that felt like 100.

Fwiw I’m 50.

Summers are hot and humid. Always.

I am 62 and don’t agree. We had no A/C growing up and other than 5 nights a summer, it was tolerable. Now it is simply a nightmare if you don’t have A/C. BTW I now have A/C.
