platitudes are easy.

Agree. I think people say stuff like this out of fear. I pity them; what a difficult way to live. And I believe God is real. But saying a platitude prayer for a stranger accomplishes nothing except navel gazing, which I'm not sure God would look favorably on - but who am I to say? She talks to me in my deepest moments. I assume she does this with others too, so it's up to them to believe or not. It's not up to me to have a relationship for them.

You see pretty sure God is a woman. Kinda kinky.

Why are you a sexist? Why do you assume God is not a woman?

Why would God have a gender at all? It's not like it has to engage in sexual reproduction.

Good point! God did have a son, though, - Jesus - and God chose a woman to bear the child, so God must be a guy, right? And back in those days, guys were really in charge of everything, so chances are, God was a guy.

The Christian god had a son, but not all religious god believing people are Christian.

The majority are Christian. Besides, Christians wield the most influence in the world today.

You are wrong OP. I am “areligious” yet I believe in God.

The super majority of people in the world are not Christian. You can say a plurality of the world is Christian as it is the largest minority with about 25-30%. Whether or not Christian’s wield the most influence in the world is certainly debatable but not a given.

Then you are not areligious, according to OP's definition.

And this is where the old mythic story tellers demonstrate their stories are made up and not the work of a god. At a minimum, Jesus should have been a woman. They could have at least convinced some of a virgin birth through parthenogenisis and give more credibility to the claim. However, since we are dealing with a male dominant pastoral society, of course they were sexist and their character is male.

Previous post also ignores the fundamental question of why would some supreme entity have a sex? It doesn't procreate. It doesn't need to. Sex traits would be unnecessary. Sex evolved in species on Earth to have increased variability in offspring to increase chances of survival. What purpose would that have for "God"?

I was unaware that this thread was only about people who live in the US.
