State Dept - are RIFs coming on Friday?

Anonymous
Bump. So now what? Anyone have rumors to share?
Anonymous
Program offices mostly don’t know a damn thing. I know RIF lists were made by every bureau, but the method beyond that is anyone’s guess.

NPR says today.

Everyone at State got an email from D-MR yesterday evening saying the reorg was proceeding and people RIFed would be individually notified shortly. I’d originally heard that message was going out this morning, so ahead of schedule I guess.

I can’t remember, have we heard about the news before the layoffs were actually notified?

Hope you guys are doing ok over there.

If no message yet, in the clear?

Apparently, they are “being rolled out” over the next few hours. I know someone who has received one, but it will be a while before they are done.

They should never do this on a Friday.

It’s literally the best day to do it.

That would be Monday — then I get a week off and can send out some resumes rather than a weekend of despair.

They should never do this on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

30 or 60 days for the RIF notice?
Anonymous
60 days for CS. 120 days for FS.

at this point 60 days is almost like taking the DRP offer. and with over 25 years, I'd get an immediate annuity and health care continuing. They dont give severence to folks who are VERA-eligible, they get DSR'd
