I think you have a decent chance, especially at the less popular programs (see PP’s popularity list). |
Thanks! Yes, kindergarten for Spanish.

Any idea why page is so much less popular? |
Honestly I think location. |
Anyone have experience with Spanish immersion at Burnt Mills? Is it considered a good program? |
I think RCF’s popularity might have to do with the fact RCF’s full immersion began almost 50 years ago and the Page and Burnt Mills immersion programs began as two way immersion and switched to full immersion more recently. Also, RCF had the MCPS “Principal of the Year” (retired now) and has a very active PTA and parent volunteers helping to make it a tight knit community. |
My kid got waitlisted to #63, what are their chances of getting into the school we want? |
Up to 30 have a better chance. That being said WTP went into 40s/50s last year!

My kid got #9 and #14 at Rcf and Sligo. Sounds like odds are good he'll end up somewhere.
My French is way better than my Spanish but I can at least kind of help him with either. |
I think you’ll have your pick! Congrats. We’re at SCES now. |
Can we just discuss how frustrating this process is? This is my 3rd kid we've tried for and waitlisted for everything (100ish for the 3 we entered, so no chance).
I will be shocked if we ever do get into a lottery - we struck out with all the middle school ones too (not language related). |
I’m so sorry. This process sucks. |
It is. This is our first time trying but 100s for 6/7 and 60s for RCF. |
I’ve had one child strike out for K and win the lottery for 1st, so try again if you’re able. But I also know how the long the odds are and how lucky we got— sorry to those who have been disappointed this year. |
It’s so stressful and can feel so disappointing![]() |
