Is there hope of even a single Republican coming to the rescue?

This is so beyond what we know and not at all what it is perceived as. They have no intention of listening to judges, no intention of saving any jobs. It’s a burn the village mentality, storm and pillage.
They are breaking it. Now they own it.

You live in this country too. Do you really not understand the end is near.

But what do we do? Do we need to buy guns?

Yes. Build yourself a little bunker.

Stock up on green and blue hair dye.

Also, p@ssy hats. Those will really help in a crisis.

Wow. Still triggered over them this many years later.

When democracy officially dies, I’m gonna be wearing my hat.

Most Americans believe that this should be accomplished via the rule of law and not a dictator.

Just say you are ok with the lawlessness as long as it benefits you somehow.

But most Americans don't know how it's being done, that's the problem. Pretty sure Fox is keeping a tight lid on all the illegal crap.

They don’t know because they don’t want to know. The information is out there. They just refuse to look because then they’d have to admit that maybe they were wrong.

It’s a choice for most of them.

No one will be voting for them in future elections; that’s for sure!

Unfortunately, no. Not yet anyway. I was horrified at the Republican silence when Trump said he would fire FBI agents and prosecutors involved in January 6 cases and was interested in getting rid of “disloyal” CIA staff. Those two agencies usually have Republican loyalty. I was pretty shocked at the silence around the DOGE people getting into the US Treasury payments platform and firing the career civil servant who tried to stop them due to their lack of clearances and need to access those systems.

But I think they’ve all gone blind, deaf and dumb.

Someone is basically walking around your house, declaring they own it while trashing every room. And no, they don’t own it.

Will any of them wake up, be honest with themselves, be brave? This is bad for all of us. So they piss off their fellow Republicans—they’ll get over it. Get voted out and write a book and go on the lecture circuit about what it took to save a democracy and stand up for the US Constitution.

No. The Repubs are too scared of getting primaried by Elmo.

I have some faith that they will start fighting back if he tries to mess with DOD spending. Those lobbyists won’t like that.

They all have PTSD from thinking they were about to die (read AOC recent account of hiding in a bathroom).

This is the endgame of the Jan 6 insurrection, they aren’t going to stand up to take a bullet for bnothing

Then they need to quit and let someone else do the job or screw their courage to the sticking place. They took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution.

This. These politicians are so weak. You speak to and defend the constitution. You do the right thing. You don’t go to cocktail parties and wring your hands. JFC, this is beyond pathetic.

Who cares? You did the right thing. It’s important to do the right thing when your country’s democracy is on the line.

Who cares if they get primaried if the whole thing crashes. Channel a little Mike Pence and quit being babies.

Oh yeah. I called all the republicans on the intelligence and judiciary committees and yelled into the answering service about protecting law enforcement and the economy (the only things they supposedly care about). Obviously they care about themselves. They only care about themselves. It’s so infuriating.

My spouse is getting EU citizenship for himself and our kids … Ironically, his grandparents fled the Nazis and came to America. Now it may be the reverse.

Exactly. Pence is a hero. He did the right thing at considerable cost to himself, because our constitution is sacred to him. I’m a political moderate and don’t agree with Mike Pence on many issues, but I align with him on that and am grateful that he is courageous. I can’t think of one republican politician who has courage. They’ve all been chased out of the party.

Fled the Nazis.

Palestinians are fleeing the monsters that fled the Nazis.
