Yeah babe. When you don’t get a dying fetus out in time, you can go septic. |
Baby lost her mom for no good reason at all. It does not have to be this way so get our there and vote to get rid of Trump. |
The topic of the post is that abortion bans HURT WOMEN. How is that irrelevant? |
+1 ^PP should tell those children who lost their moms because of MAGA/Trump should tell those kids.. "hey, you still have a dad, so it's ok that MAGA/Trump pushed for policies that got your mom killed. You're dad will just get another women pregnant to pop out another baby. And if she dies like your mom, your dad can just get another woman. See? These policies are great for men, not so much for living children or your moms." |
This is doctor malpractice. The baby’s head was already exiting the cervix and she needed medicine to speed up the delivery. It’s not even about abortion which is allowed under Texas law for a “medical emergency” anyway, she was in the middle of a miscarriage that they allowed to go on too long. |
When there is legal interference, doctors understandably hesitate. So take the law out and save women’s lives! |
But the heart hadn't stopped beating and under Texas law that was the relevant part. You see, if you think that doctors should be able to exercise reasonable judgment, then you should advocate for laws that allow doctors to do just that. Because these doctors certainly did not want this woman to die, and they also didn't want to go to jail - and they chose the latter over the former. THAT is the system that Texas Republicans have in place, thanks to Donald Trump - serial rapist, payer of many abortions. These are not reasonable laws. You can talk out both sides of your mouth trying to insist they are. But this woman is dead. I think her argument is more persuasive. |
Speeding up delivery is not an abortion, for one. She was already delivering the child. In addition, Texas law allows for abortions in a “medical emergency” so again, this is doctor malpractice. |
Oh, that’s not how it played out. A TX judge granted Cox her abortion and then Ken Paxton stepped in… https://www.texastribune.org/2023/12/07/texas-emergency-abortion-lawsuit/ |
So much bullsh*t in this thread. These cases demonstrate quite clearly the double bind doctors are in trying to satisfy the state’s harsh threat of punishment while treating their patients.
Katie Cox’s case was a playbook to remind doctors of the anvils over their heads. A TX judge granted her an abortion and then Ken Paxton sent threatening letters to the hospitals who might have provided it therefore she had to leave the state. The AG of TX targeted a single pregnant woman ignoring the ruling of a TX judge. That should piss everyone off. How can doctors be expected to make sound medical decisions in that environment? It’s ridiculous and sophomoric to think they could. |
They didn’t give her the medicine and allowed it go on too long because there was still a heartbeat. That is a direct result of the 2021 Texas law. |
Correct. The doctor failed to recognize medical the distress his patient was in and failed to provide emergency treatment. Unfortunately this happens with or without abortion bans. You internet warriors can find many many articles of pregnant women who get septic, die, bleed to death because their OB/Gyn waited too long or did the wrong thing- even in blue states. It’s MALPRACTICE |
I guess you think the doctors need to go to jail for not giving her an abortion then. What a great system. |
Our current surplus of doctors might finally get winnowed down, at least. /s |
Sure thing, sailor. Go off on that. |
