MP1 report cards came home yesterday and did not include MCAP report. Middle school parent here.

I know 750 was the cutoff for Proficient in 2024. Anyone know what the percentages were for how many kids got Level 3 (proficient) and how many got Level 4?

Doesn't it list % in each level? E.g. 4% of MD students scored in Level 4 Math?

Mcps? Ha! Wishful 🤔

If it were an MCPS test, it would be in parentview already. It only takes them a few weeks for tests they admin. MCAP however is a state test so not exactly MCPS' job.

County is subordinate to state government. County has no sovereignty.

Our MS says they will come home together. Haven't seen either yet.

Got the 5th grade reports a week ago from kid.

"The person the state refers parents to in order byo in get the MCAP report is Donna Blaney, the Supervisor of the Testing and Reporting Unit: Donna_M_Blaney@mcpsmd.org
You will probably have to repeatedly email her to get the report, though. -DP"

Why is the state trying to push this off on MCPS? It is their test. MCPS does a fine job with its test. Should our county taxes shouldn't be further subsidizing these state initiatives? Honestly, it's not like my kids need all these standardized tests anyway especially unproven ones like MCAP.

Not if you don’t have the score report and only have the number on the graduation report. PP is looking for someone to share the breakdown from their algebra 1 report.

Right, so why the F are students having to waste time for days and hours to take "unproven" tests?

Because it's a weed out test for teachers. For example if a certain #/% of 8th grade students don't perform well on that "unproven" state Science test, one piece of data to remove science teacher (yes, they have a shortage of teachers in STEAM).

This is the PP again. That's exactly right. Still curious if anyone has the percentages from the algebra I report. I'm assuming that 4% was just thrown out as an example.

So why is mcps making students sit for hours for the test inside a mcps building during mcos school hours?

Because the State requires it.
