+1 to Phoenix/Scottsdale. I visited in the fall and I was underwhelmed. I don’t golf but did stay at a resort and it still did nothing for me.
Closer to home, I really don’t care for the Poconos. Mediocre food, iffy housing stock, aggressive NY/NJ drivers, crowds. |
Vieques island, Puerto Rico. They hype it up as more relaxed and less developed than San Juan and you have to stay overnight to see the bio bay tours, but it was just run down but also somehow touristy. Also you have to take a ferry system to get there. Maybe it was our airbnb because that was barely a step up from camping. |
Spain. I’m of Puerto Rican descent so the disdain is pretty deep-seated, but the Spanish are hostile to Americans (even when they speak fluent Spanish, as I do) and generally racist. Overall not a welcoming or warm experience. Just really not enjoyable.

Asheville. I do not get the love for this place. Been several times since we have friends nearby. I do love the mountains and the area outside the city limits but the city itself is dirty, depressing, and filled with homeless druggies.

Naples, Italy |
I did not like Venice, Italy pre-Covid. Too many tourists and the locals forced out.
Athens was very 3rd world-y and gritty in an unpleasant way. We had to stay there while visiting Acropolis/the usual highlights, but it was a chore. By contrast, the rest of our Greece trip was lovely. |
Dp. land in Osaka and chill. |
Who hurt you? I went to Miami and started planning to move there. What happened on your trip? Skip the Keys it’s a day trip |
We met our conservative relatives from Oklahoma in Branson. We knew it wasn't going to be our jam, and we were right. |
I didn’t hate it and wouldn’t return to St. Lucia. |
Unwanted. Tell us more about this? Can’t say I was ever wanted in a country. Comfortable yes. Maybe unwelcome. |
What did you hate about Barbados? |
PP again. Forgot Cancun. Found it appalling. Except for the beauty of the ocean the place was like a Ft. Lauderdale strip mall and hotel area. |
All inclusives seem to have all the negatives of a cruise, but you aren't going anywhere. |
