She picked Tim

Best possible pick. He captured the zeitgeist with “weird” and he’s a unifying pick. Shapiro would have split party. Happy and energized Dems have a real shot. It’s Trump who looks old and crazy now as he rambles about Hannibal Lector.

He looks like he’s 80 years old though. So I’m not sure this matters unfortunately.

I mean there is a literal 80 year old in office. Walz looks nothing like that.

They brand everyone an extreme leftist.

+1 Lots of tightly puckered “moderates” on this site today.

I’m a Minnesotan and I’m super jazzed about Walz as the pick.

He looks old enough to be a grownup but does not read as infirm or on the decline in the least. I think his age/look is an advantage. He looks reassuring. Plus he just seems like such a joyful mensch.

Agree, he has sweet quick-witted grandpa energy. Remember how much the kids loved Bernie!

Personally I wanted Kelly, because I was ready for VPOTUS who’s been in space to counter the Elon wannabes, but I’m so relieved it’s not Shapiro and we don’t have to spend the next 90 days dissecting his views on Palestinians and can instead just focus on winning the election. This was a savvy choice.

I’m a moderate and I think his personality is a breath of fresh air.

Right?! Why didn’t she pick Shapiro and try to make a battle for PA? Did Shapiro not want it? Did the opposition research find stuff on him or Kelly? This is “meh” for me but maybe he’ll surprise us?

Shapiro wants to be president one day so he’s going to work his butt off to get Harris elected.

This election is going to be one on who wins the communication narrative. Walsh is a great communicator, especially for average folk.

This.

Anonymous wrote:Shapiro would have delivered Pennsylvania. “But there’s no data about VPs helping in their state” yeah ok blah blah blah. When was the last time a winning ticket had a vp from a contested state?

The fact that the Harris campaign bought this BS line (and that they think they are going to win PA without Shapiro sounds like it weighed heavily on their logic) portends very bad things for their decision making up to Election Day.

And he might've lost the youth vote and Michigan and depressed turnout by progressives (and those against vouchers). Let's not pretend that "delivering" PA might be enough. He's got plenty of baggage and the cons would've questioned his loyalties and why he volunteered for the IDF and not the U.S. military. Every headline between now and the election involving the Middle East would've brought attention to this.

I am voting for Kamala but let's be frank. A two-women ticket would be hard to win. He was born in 1964, same age as Kamala. That is not terribly old. At the very least, two 60 year olds is better than a geriatric.

I also don’t see Walz wanting to be president when the term is up. this will open up the opportunities for Whitmer, Newsom and Shapiro

I think Kelly was a better choice. I like Walz but he's not exciting, and Americans are so superficial and want exciting.

Same poster. I suspect the hate isn’t from moderates but from more establishment east coast Dems who wanted a more establishment east coast Dem pick.

Also, I’m curious about why Kelly didn’t make the cut. Walz may not have been the first choice.

FYI, you risk being jumped by a rando poster on this board obsessed with people misspelling Lecter. Given the central role that Hannibal Lecter plays in Trump's rambling campaign speeches, I think it's a sore spot.

Newsom is never becoming POTUS.

I get more of a Steve Martin look/vibe from him. But he's got that salt of the earth, happy warrior thing going and can totally relate to rural voters.
