are "racist text message acceptable now?

Teens shouldn't be so flip about this stuff, especially on social media. Colleges have and will continue to revoke admissions when these "I'm not a racist, but..." comments come to light.

There's a trend on TikTok of Hispanic girls saying "I'm Mexican and I like Starbucks," "I'm Latina and I read books." My teen daughters have said stuff like that. They also like to hold up deserts at the grocery store and say stuff like "it's brown on the inside, like me." But they aren't on Discord. I would be worried that my kid's words would be screenshotted and taken out of context online.

Like I said before, know your audience.

It's interesting that so many people are worried about statements being recorded or possible college admissions blow back. How about just raising a decent human being who conducts themselves with integrity and treats people with respect - like most of our parents taught us?

Because jokes made in private are not an indictment of an individual. Nor even are occasional insults or offensive language.

They don't care that they are racists, they only care that people knowing they are racist will negatively affect their lives. Hence these parents think it's fine to say all this stuff, just don't post it on twitter or your college might see and rescind your admission. Keep that racism on the DL!

Don't be the thought police. Just teach her to be careful about putting anything in writing. Some snitch will screenshot it and send it to the principal.

Yes, once someone voices a thought outside of the bounds that you have determined, they should be cancelled. College admissions and job offers rescinded, publicly shamed and shunned,

What a world you want to live in...

I'll consider that once people stop talking about about boring white people food, bland, no flavor, no spice. If you're going to dish it, better be able to take it. That goes for your kids too.
