TJ Notice - How safe do other TJ parents feel?

I'm super pro-gun control so worried about guns in schools but I definitely thought the threat was just a kid looking to not have to take a test on Thursday.

I agree with another PP that a genuinely disturbed child is not likely to carve their intentions into the wall at school - they're SM may have posts or other stuff online but otherwise they'd just show up w/ a gun one day and start shooting.

Given that angle I think the school handled it well. If you don't believe a kid would do this just to get out of taking a test and you think it's genuine then yes i see how you're still really worried and don't think enough info's been shared.

A genuine planner wouldn’t scrawl their plan on the wall. A genuinely disturbed person would.

You can’t predict how and when exactly someone will pop off. That’s one reason why it’s important to find unstable people and help stabilize them.

Any FCPS official is going to be highly limited in terms of what they're able to communicate to parents. It would be wise to manage your expectations as I promise you she is not permitted to say everything she'd like to.

A troubled teen would as well. Not necessarily disturbed, but troubled. We see it in females as self-harm tendencies does not always mean suicidal. Stop acting like we are dealing with the Unibomber here.

Bonitatibus could have said that or something in her email, rather than no detail at all. Middle school principal was able to explain the status much better when similar incident happened at Luther Jackson. Communication is a basic skill expected from a principal.

handled well? Maybe Bonitatibus can write a detailed email, but it hasn't come out yet.

True but that doesn't mean I shouldn't complain about it.

just a kid looking to not have to take a test on Thursday.

A school they had to work very hard to get into.
The graffiti represents is an act of a very disturbed individual.
Everything should be done to find the student and remove them.

DC said the BC Calc final was on Thursday. Yes even kids that had to work hard to get into TJ don’t relish that test.

It’s within the realm of possibility that a kid didn’t really want to go to TJ but their parents pushed and insisted they go there. My child went to TJ and knew lots of kids who didn’t want to be there.

Kids are trying to catch up to their advanced peers, and skipping course levels unsuccessfully and unnecessarily. Each student needs to make progress in their own path instead of comparing themselves to others or worrying about low grades.
