Around what ages are teens getting sexually active nowadays?

Anonymous wrote:Per DD, a few are active by the time they're 12, and more by 14, although the ones that started at 12 seem to have stopped. Most studies show that teens are delaying sex and average age is something like 17 (IIRC).

Also keep in mind that what a teen considers sex generally involves penetration, and they do not consider BJs and oral sex to be sex.

twas true in my day too

Keep your kids busy and engaged!

Keep your kids close. Busy doesn’t guarantee anything.

we can debate this all day long, but by default the less time kids have on their hands the less time they have to engage in risky behavior. Its simple math.

Ask Asian young adults in their early 20’s what their thoughts are on keeping them busy to keep them “perfect”

Ask them about their scroll of mental health issues

Ask them what Jennifer did

I feel like internet porn must come into play, too.

Permissive parents who let them "date". You think y'all are letting them do things in public places and that it's safe but Nick and James know which girls will give it to them. So my two words of warning: keep your kids lock down busy. I have three teen girls and the stories they tell me are shocking. Oh and keep it tight on sleepovers too.

Lots of booze at the sleepovers or in the park.

14 for oral sex. Teens don’t count that as real sex

Nah most kids aren’t into relationships anymore. I mean that truly. Must are just hook-ups including middle school. Even in high school, I would say maybe 20% have boyfriends or girlfriends.

And a lot of stuff happens in school, after school activities and in public places like the mail staircases, shopping center parking lot staircases, the parks, etc…

You can’t really curb it. Teens always find a way if they want.

Not all teens are skanks.

This comment lol

1. My kid is pretty. My kid is popular. My kid has a boyfriend

2. My kid also says they haven’t even had a kiss yet and the same with every single friend of hers.

3. Anyone that has are shanks.

Mom not only you are a judgmental B that is shaming teen girls and taking leaps backwards in feminism, but you are literally touting your own kid and completely clueless that she is dead ass lying to you. Ohhh the irony.

What about the sexually scribe guys? Are they just cool or can’t help themselves to the barrage of sexually active girls stalking these poor innocent boys.

I wasn’t one that said this but I can see why.

My daughter has several extracurriculars but still managed to have sex, romance, drinking, some drug experimentation. She has high achieving friends who also do this. They are all go go go extroverts….however, she has a lot of friends who don’t seem to have any outside school commitments. What that means is that they are always available. And then you add to the mix an extroverted nature, these kids start to expand their friend groups. They are always available, so this is pretty easy to do, and they are always seeking social occasions. Once the circle widens enough, that element from some part always finds a way in.

Introverted anxious types usually aren’t getting into this stuff, at least not as a young teen. If they aren’t very busy, they are usually sitting home on their phones. Which, I’m not sure is any better than going out and drinking at a party. Truthfully, I’d rather my teen be dating and having real sex than sexting on snap with a stranger.

Boom.

And if these girls get pregnant in a red state, and old white men tell her that she has no control over what decisions to make about her body, shouldn’t we be castrating the boys that made the pregnancy happen?

I wouldn’t be so sure about this.

-introverted anxious type who was regularly having sex, drinking, smoking pot by age 15.

My DS lost his virginity at 15 but I didn’t find out until he was 17 and told me. Wasn’t with a girlfriend. My DD lost hers at 14 with a boyfriend she is still dating a bit over a year later. Told me pretty quickly and asked to go on BC. They only waited a few months after dating. I wasn’t thrilled as I told her to go slow but I am glad she told me to get her protection besides condoms.

Both high level honor students and play club and varsity sports. DD is in student gov too.

Most of their friends are similar but many don’t tell their parents a thing just like my son initially did. But they are both pretty open now that they are older in high school. But both of them said freshman to sophomore year is when most lose it. And parents have no clue.

Same. I didn’t have sex until 16 and that was late in my introverted group, but I was smoking/drinking by 14. Going to “third base” by early 15.

I was not popular or cool by any means. I had some great sex though and don’t regret any of it. LOL
